MITES 2012 Information and Discussion

My heart just started accelerating when I read that… WHY.

Lol it’s because you can’t concentrate :wink: Sorry, lame joke, but I really had to say it haha.

I’m reading last year’s thread for a second time because I’m so nervous/excited. They were a lot more talkative…

So… are you guys taking subject tests in May?

I am!! But APs come first… what about you? Which ones are you taking?

Well, I took chemistry last year when I was in AP chem and I got an 800, but my school counselor wants me to take 3 more subject tests, because I am “a good test taker” and “colleges want to raise their averages”. I’m taking math 2, USH, and literature. I figure that if I fail literature I won’t send it, and I’m in APs for the other two.

I AM SO SCARED FOR APUSH. Calc BC is not scaring me at all (it is actually my favorite math class ever/has been my best math class ever) and I KNOW I will get a 5, but APUSH is not my best class and my teacher isn’t as good.

What about you?

Taking subject tests in June :D

Taking SAT Chem in May =]

Taking SAT Chem, Math 2 (easy), and USH in May!

They should be interesting.

Math 2, Physics, and USH subjects in June. I already have two subjects under my belt, although I got 790’s on both >_>

Looks like I have the lowest scores of anyone here… shame haha I’m taking SAT USH, Lit, and Physics! I might take Math I in June but I’ve already taken Math II so I’m not sure if I should… I got a 770 on Math II (took it sophomore year so I missed all the calc questions). Any suggestions as to whether I should retake Math II or just leave it be or just take Math I?

@sesamesesame: I c wat u did thar… :o

No subject tests for me :)… Unless I actually decide to apply to Stanford.

Yuppp; taking 3 is may… Then the AP’s are right after…

(USH, Chem and Bio)

Oh you don’t even want to know my schedule…

3 days of AP tests in a row (comp sci, Calc BC, chem)

Then USH and English Lang.

Itll suck.

@CantConcentrate: But Stanford doesn’t require any…?

@sesame
The curve for math I is ridiculously bad. One little mistake means no 800 for you. I’d retake the math II if you want an 800, which has a generous curve.

@Lanayru Do you think it’s even worth retaking just for the 30 points though? I mean I know I can get the 800 but will it make a big difference in applying for college?

@coffeeandtea: They “recommend them” D:

Though… I really don’t know if I’m going to bother applying to Stanford.

@sesame
Anything 700+ is great for subject tests. However, if you’re going to take subject tests anyways, you might as well improve it. An 800 on the Math II is way easier to get than for most other subject tests and the SAT I. You can miss quite the number of questions and still get a perfect score.

taking physics in may with the ap…
i hear that the tests curriculum is very similar to the AP curriculum

@CantConcentrate I’m not really sure where you’re looking at and for what but it can’t hurt to take SATs if you’re already studying for the AP tests anyway. I know a lot of colleges like to see at least one science or humanities and one math.

@Lanayru Sounds good to me. Thanks!
