@knitswim: oh whoops, I meant rsi and wtp?

JHUBound- I’m pretty sure they don’t. I think I remember it was shared with something like SSP whih emailed me, but those other programs have separate applications.

I have so many questions, so sorry in advance:

1) So I sent my SAT and ACT scores to MIT as if I was applying to college – will MITES get them, or do I have to send them to the MITES office somehow? I didn’t get my paper scores back, only electronic ones, so I’m not sure how I’d do that.

2) For activities and interests (ECs), do I only put ones I’ve done this school year, my high school career, or overall? (for example, if I did a substantial amount of volunteer work in 5th-6th grade, should I include it, or is it irrelevant?)

3) Do I put down my weighted or unweighted GPA?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Redchair!
(1) For MITES, just send it as if you were applying to college so just sent it to MIT through the official ACT and SAT sites!
(2) So the extracurricular activities I put were all 9-11th grade and honestly, I would try to first fill the slots that are most relevant to you now. Then if you have spare slots then add those from 5th/6th. But honestly, be really true to yourself when you’re writing your ECs and and essays. Don’t TRY to be something that you think they might like because it is the diversity in personalities and interests that makes MITES so special. For instance, in my application I wrote all about music because that’s my main EC involvement and I got in
(3) I put my unweighted but if your transcript includes both (or your counselor has to write both) then you’re good!!

Let me know if you have other questions and best of luck!! :D

these essays re killing me. I dont know if i should write personally and informal or structured and formal.

@karlfrazier0236
I am with you! I redid all my essays at least 3 times, and am still not done…

you’re not alone. best of luck!(:

Is anyone applying to other programs in case they don’t get in? I’m afraid to, and afraid not to at the same time. :S

I’m also struggling with the essays. I want to show them my personality, but I don’t know how formal they want them.

If we’re taking the SAT on the January test date, how should we report the scores?

@silencefell
me too! at this point all my hopes are on MITES though(:

@coffeeandtea
same here. my essay tone seems very generic to me when I try to be formal…
I’m a math and science person- not a writer :p

My essays are really really informal. I don’t know if that’s okay, but I think they’re fine (and I really don’t want to rewrite them)

Hey guys,

So for my “challenge that you’ve faced” essay, I was thinking of writing about something that happened to me in 7th grade, but is that too far in the past to be relevant?

Hey guys, have your teachers had trouble uploading a document to the email sent to them?

ya, my teacher had trouble as well. she said she emailed them so we’ll see how it turns out

Ah, alright. I thought it was just us. xD

Hey.(:It’s almost time to turn apps in!!

Don’t mention that! You’re scaring me. I still don’t even have drafts of two of my essays!

I never knew how short a 300 word essay was until MITES came around…

Hey Coffee&Tea what part of Southern California are you?
