I’m a girl! Haha, but you can’t really tell with my username…

Only 3 dudes…

Your move, natural selection…
…your move.

No, I didn’t apply anywhere else. I’m either overconfident or stupid.

I applied to SIMR, SSP and Rockefeller :o

Iuvenilis, your name is Latin right? If not, then my Latin is just bad haha

Question for the ladies, why don’t a lot of you apply to MIT. Is engineering too manly or something?

I can see half of you being premeds anyway…

You guys seem awesome! I hope to meet you at MITES! I really want to get into MITES. Although E2 and MOSTEC would be better than nothing, they cannot compare to MITES. If I got into those instead, I’d try to visit, but hopefully I’d have something else (like a summer internship) that could create a conflict (I mean I wish I could go to E2/MOSTEC, but I want something else to do over the summer as well.)

For the record, I’m a guy. It’s good to see girls on here too, though. I know girls are often underrepresented in STEM fields. Also, it might be pretty good having the diversity you don’t get at RSI, as good as RSI is.

As for programs I applied to: RSI (rejected of course), MITES, SSP, Clark Scholars, and a local internship. Please, let me get SOMETHING.

Bahahaha, this thread makes me happy after a long, hot day. I REALLY hope we all get in and meet each other. Maybe grab some slushies in Cambridge.
Also, I applied to RSI (waitlisted), MITES, Baylor HSSSRP, HSHSP, and Clark Scholars. Right now, I’m just hoping to get ONE program. Preferably MITES or ClarkS, since RSI may as well be a no haha

OH, TWO MORE THINGS
- This thread is tons more fun than the RSI 2013 thread.
- We should all have a live group chat sometime over the weekend. That’d be nice.

Yea I agree I don’t mind talking over some sort of chat program…
I got rejected to RSI :< lol so I don’t know what to expect anymore. Hoctopi, you apply to so many programs. I’m also glad there are girls on CC, I hope y’all aren’t nerds (; haha just kidding! I see we have some SSP rivalry in here.

I plan to drop the flirt on these girls. Mmmm…

I’m probably coming off as creepy.

I love nerds, as they are my people <3 Those who are passionate about science… those are the best kind of people. (Really, those who are just passionate about anything haha.)
Yeah, I kind of treated this winter as a pseudo-college application spree. Good experience, plus a whole arsenal of essays ready for next year
And yes, Rivstein, you probably ARE coming off as creepy. Just a taaaaad bit XD

I’m a girl as well :)

^So… you come here often?

(-.-)…

I would love to receive an email like this:

"Dear MITES applicant,

It is my pleasure to inform you that, due to the extraordinary talent that goes to waste every damn year, MITES 2013 has increased it’s enrollment to 80 instead of 40.
In addition, the admissions office has deemed you worthy of the title, ‘Mr. MITES’ in the year of our lord, two-thousand thirteen. You, good sir, are a delicious hunk of intellectual Puerto Rican goodness. Congratulations!

Yours truly,
Rafael Reif
Dean of MIT"

The second paragraph would just be a bonus.

I thought they do admit around 80 students?

Alpha, yup! It’s Latin! Thanks for being the first to acknowledge it.
And slushies in Cambridge? Count me in.

Only 40 to MITES (give or take a few)

Are you guys east coast, west, or Midwest?

East (Florida)

It means youthful mind or youthful heart or something along those lines?

I translated it with Google haha :D
