@Hoctopi, what’d you apply?

@Rivstein, people say SAT is study-able and ACT is not since SAT has test taking tips and skills you can master. Especially the SAT prep centers all over the world.

No joke, someone could probably build a house in the far corner of our property and get away with it for years. I haven’t been back there since I was 9. Our house is on the corner of the property, alongside a road.

The SAT was originally designed to be an aptitude test, whereas the ACT is comprehensive. That’s the reason there are SAT prep centers in the first place… because some of the skills require face-to-face instruction (for the average student, that is).

Rivstein, where do you live again? That’s massive @_@

@Alpha: SAT is definitely study-able. Sophomore PSAT: 165. Current practice tests: ~2200. I haven’t taken any prep classes; I’ve just gone through my tests and corrected what I’ve gotten wrong.

@Rivstein: I am so incredibly jealous, holy cow; we own like 1.5 acres! I’d love to have that sort of land @.@. Actually, it would probably overwhelm me (thinking about who could be skulking around), so maybe about 10% of it, haha.

@Rivstein dude I don’t know if we even own an acre -___- you’re lucky you own so much land!

There’s people that own a couple hundred thousand acres over here in Texas so imagine that O:

So it’s agreed. We’re all going to live on Rivstein’s land. Ha!

I have a serious question though. What are each of your reasons for attending MITES and what do you want to be? I’m not looking for an essay

I get to chill with math and science nerds for 6 weeks. And I get to math and science at MIT for 6 weeks. And I get to meet cool people (this is basically a repeat of reason #1).

Computer programmer/scientist. Or a novelist.

I want to get a better understanding of the field that I want to get into since there a very few opportunities where I live.

Maybe I should state mine as well.

Engineering truly interests me and on all levels, but I’ve never had the exposure. Also, at my school not many others know or care about engineering. They all want to be lawyers and doctors. (Boo!) I’d just love to share my interests with others who feel the same. Lastly, I want to be an mechanical or civil engineer and eventually own my own firm.

I live in central Florida…40-60 miles north of Orlando.

I want to expose myself to engineering. I want MITES to provide me with a feeling of certainty that engineering is right for me. I want to meet like-minded people, all the while staying at the number one ranked school on Earth. What I’m really looking for is hope, for my family and for myself.

I want to major in Industrial engineering (or double major in CS and Economics at MIT).
I want to get an MBA and an MA in engineering. I want to be a leader at a STEM-related company and make it more innovative and profitable than Apple, ExxonMobile, or Royal Dutch Shell could ever dream of being.

MBA’s are useless unless you go to a top school. It’s easier to get a graduate degree at a top school if you come from a top school. The MA in engineering I could get anywhere that doesn’t completely suck.

Why would it be useless? Because of networking?

@Riv, I really like how ambitious you are.

I want to go to MITES so that I can meet people like Rivstein lol. I love ambitious and determined people, those who have a drive and won’t let anything stop them. I feel inspired whenever I meet someone like that, which is why I would like to go to MITES and surround myself with these prodigies.

I am looking forward to a double major with Aerospace Engineering and Physics. What I will get in my graduate studies is still unknown to me. I like AI, Robots, more dynamic engineering and physics, relativity, etc. As long as it has math, science and excludes probability and statistics, I am happy.

@Rivs and Nashia
They are mostly useless in fields regarding STEM, except for the computational ones.

Oh. I see. I just want an MBA so that I can be a Boss! jp I hope to get my firm involved in creating structures with effects similar to ones of the Burj Al Arab had. Starting in Mexico where most of my family lives, I want my iconic figures to help improve the economy through encouraging tourism.

You know what I really like? How knowledgeable and creative you guys are. I cannot wait to meet you guys. *Remaining optimistic.

F***********k! (I know the word is shorter)

I just looked at all the profiles for the accepted students last year. They’re all 1st gen. college.

My mom went to college!!! Dammmmmmmmmit!!!

People say it doesn’t matter and spit at you with that liberal arts BS about “you just weren’t the right fit” or “race doesn’t matter, everyone’s equal on the inside”. Yes I was and yes it does!

I know correlation doesn’t imply causation, but correlation is a clue that leaves causation as a possibility!!!

I’m done rambling.

From now on, I’m a 1st generation Native American student with a 2400 and a 4.0. My entire family was killed in spirit worshipping accident. My real dad is black and I won a gold medal in the IMO and 1st place in Intel and Siemens. All the while being paralyzed from the neck down and having to work to support my family, which by the way, makes 2000 dollars a year before taxes and spends its time at homeless shelters. I received 3 Nobel Prizes for curing cancer and I have a recommendation from the president. I am also the volunteer ambassador to North Korea. They let me in because I negotiated peace with them on behalf of the free world.

All of my recommendors burst into tears while typing up their recommendations.

You’re welcome, and where’s my full ride to Cambridge?

Results are not back so there’s no need to make fake identities yet…

@Rivstein One of my parents went to college too, but I don’t think that disqualifies us from admission. Relax dude :)

@Nashia I want to go to MITES to meet like-minded people that love math and science. I’m kinda alone over here. I’d love to do cool science stuff for six weeks of my summer. Of course, I want to go to MIT to study physics. After that maybe I’ll join the military and go fight some communists. Then come back and win a Nobel prize in physics. Finally, I’ll become the President of the United States. And then I can die happy.
