@mufasa1
Hi!
My roommate was the only blonde person on person on campus this summer (so we called her Elsa) but we also had quiet a few Asians (me and two of my Asian friends stayed up one night playing “guess the halfie” to see if they could guess what ethnicity some of my friends were mixed with… Only one could. I also didn’t recommend it! Lml don’t judge us were weird)
Also @dsi411 is right because we also had a lot of non-low income participants.
So not being an URM or low income will not hurt you.
@dsi411
Hey so they’re looking for all types of people you don’t need to be president of every club and captain of every team, everything that you do is important! Remember jobs and caring for family members also counts towards ECs. The readers just want to know what you do in your free time!
Here’s the deal: I did pretty well on my SAT in October (2290), but since I was a stupid sophomore, I got a 181 on the old PSAT. I’m still waiting for the new SAT scores to come out this year.
Is it ok to only submit my SAT and new PSAT scores (when those come out)? I’m scared my old PSAT score will damage my chances.
@neoking It says on the application that you should submit at least one standardized test, so it should be fine to leave out the old PSAT. You can email them to make sure. But it does also say that your guidance counselor will upload scores too so you may need to check with him/her. I’m just submitting all my tests, old PSAT, new PSAT, and SAT, even though my old PSAT isn’t as good as my others.
Ughh. I wish they didn’t require a rec from your math teacher. My precal teacher literally hates everyone. My senior friends have warned me never to get a rec from her, but MITES unfortunately requires it.
I participate a lot in her class and I do very well (99 for the semester), but I’m not sure if she likes me or not.
So can i get a computer science teacher to recommend me under “science teacher recommendation” (as stated in FAQ) or do i NEED my current science teacher to recommend me.
@Cheeselover012 I wouldn’t necessarily say so. Just because they’re not science related doesn’t make you any less valid for the program! I’d imagine they get dozens upon dozens of applications that all look the same in test scores, GPA, EC’s etc. so having a strong essay and unique EC’s like that set you apart!
The new PSAT scores came out but I’m confused as to how they should be entered in the MITES application. They don’t allow me to put in anything that’s not a whole number and my section score for math has a .5 at the end. Has anyone else tried to enter their new PSAT scores yet?
Additionally how do we upload the PSAT scores to the application ? Also do we upload our section scores that are out of 38 or the score after its been multiplied.
