MLK- overdone?

I was considering writing my essay about how Martin Luther King, Jr.'s activism in civil rights and his life in general have helped shape who I am as a person.

However, I'm thinking that that might be overdone.

I'm not a minority, so I think it could be kind of interesting to see how his story has affected my life, but I'm still worried that it's been done too many times.

Thoughts?

I’m interested what exactly it is about him that’s inspired you so much as a non-nonwhite. If that isn’t too cliche (ex: he stood up for what he believed in), then go for it!

The fact that he was just a normal American guy, yet he led this massive social movement and the fact that his message still has such a strong influence today is what inspires me.
