Has anyone used this service? If so, please share any comments. I am reading reviews online that are quite negative. We will need to use this service (or another) to provide airport transportation to St Louis.

Any info or recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks!

My son uses it all the time (he’s a junior), and it has worked fine on both ends. The only problem occurred when he first moved off campus, and there was a mixup about exactly where he would be picked up. Sometimes he gets rides from Columbia to St. Louis with friends, but he always uses the bus for the return trip. The bus can be crowded, or almost totally empty. It varies. Is your son/daughter used to flying and navigating airports? If not, when you take him/her to Mizzou, you might want to take a few minutes in St. Louis to locate the Mo-X pickup point in preparation for the Thanksgiving trip home.

My daughter has used it for 7 times already for her trips from / to MCI, and I used it with her for Summer Welcome trip from/to STL to show her where and how to take it . Always reliable (picks her up at 5 AM at dorm) , convenient ( door to door service), quite an expensive, but we pay for our piece of mind…
Create Mo-X account with your first purchase, then you can have a free ride after … 10 trips as I remember.

I’m sure I’ll be using it this year for my daughter. I’m trying to buy her tix home for Thanksgiving now. I’m just confused because the dorm closes at 6pm, her last class is at 4pm and the last flight is 7pm. I can’t understand why they close the dorm on the last day of classes. the next morning makes more sense.

There is a good chance that, in the future, your D will be able to go home to St. Louis with a friend, stay overnight, and leave on Saturday morning. But obviously you don’t know now whether that can happen in November, and you can’t wait to make reservations. I suggest asking Residential Life to give her permission to stay overnight on Friday in her dorm or in another dorm that stays open. If they give you a “by the book” answer, ask to speak to a supervisor. You can work something out. You might want to PM Tori_mom to ask about her experience. The timing worked out for my S, but we do have St. Louis relatives he can stay with if necessary. Now he lives off campus and always comes home for breaks on Saturday mornings.

Our D. always had early morning flights; and she didn’t have a problem to get a permission to stay overnight at Mark Twain dorm. Actually quite a few people stayed with her also, and they didn’t sleep at all So don’t be afraid that she can oversleep…

Tori_mom, you made me realize that I gave my helicopter mom suggestion! Really, the answer to connfamily is: your daughter will figure it out! She can talk to the Hall Coordinator in her dorm (better than talking to the central Res Life office). They’ll work it out with her. Have fun on your move to Mizzou!

Thank you to all who replied.

I too am finding that having to check out of the dorm Friday night is difficult in trying to get these kids home, catch last flights out of STL without having to miss classes on Friday before break. Getting home takes all day, considering MO-X transport and limited flight times.

All of your input has been VERY helpful. Thank you!

Just wanted to reply now that we have gone through two trips home now and getting ready for her third for spring break.

November - She ended up deciding to just miss her last class for that Friday and we booked her on a 6:30pm flight home. She found a ride to/from Columbia from someone who lived in St. Lois and was going that way anyway. It worked great, she was home by 10:30pm that night…there were tons of parents picking up their kids that evening and the kid who sat next to her went to Mizzou.

December - Not all of her classes had final exams during final exams week, so she was able to come home a few days early. I think she ended up coming home early Thursday and her last test was Wednesday around 1pm or so. He flight was very early, so she had to get the 5:00am shuttle and had to be ready and waiting outside the dorm at 4:30am. She ended up not going to sleep that night as she was worried about oversleeping. She was border-line between the two shuttles. The early one was a little early and the next one was a little late so we went with the earlier one. Going back she had a ride home from the same person who took and picked her up from St. Lois.

So out of two trips she has only taken Mo-Express once. It worked really well though and was very easy. I also didn’t book it till about a week prior. For next month, I still don’t know if she has a ride to/from the airport, and we probably won’t book it if we need it till right before.

Our Freshman has now used the MO-X transportation for two round trips. Reliable and on time. Students need to be ready and on the look out for the van arrival at the time noted on the schedule. With this in mind, everything has gone smoothly.
