When I look at the conferences the club attends, however, I notice that Tufts EPIIC Inquiry is not on the list. Has Phillips Academy or the Model UN club ever had interest in attending Inquiry? If not, and if it was allowed by Tufts, would the Model UN club ever consider attending?

I was also interested in finding out the reason why the club only participates in one out of school conference, as there are so many other conferences aside from NAIMUN in the Northeast and even some in the Boston Area. I just found this confusing seeing as I'm used to having the choice of many MUN's. Has the MUN club thought of expanding? Would it be too difficult to add more conferences because of the size of the club?

I wasn’t in MUN, but a bunch of my friends were. From what I’ve heard, I’m guessing you’re right, the reason they don’t do more out of school conferences is because the club is huge and it would be a logistical nightmare. The one conference they do is a big deal and they miss two days of school, which I don’t think the admin loves. They also have (if I remember correctly) one in school conference a term. These are on the weekend and they’re all day affairs. I’m not sure how they compare to a real conference, but I’d imagine they’re fairly similar since they’re used to determine who gets to go to DC.

How do they determine from the in-school conferences who gets to go to DC? Do the judges of each council choose a group of people?

I honestly have no clue. The extent of my involvement with MUN was listening to friends gripe about how difficult it was to get on the board. It’s a massive club so I’m sure someone will come along who’s more knowledgeable than me.
