Mom of bride or groom dress suggestions 2021-2022

This dress has been a winner for a number of us CC MOB or MOG. I wore it in lavender to DDs wedding. It’s a very very comfortable dress…and it’s machine washable. I loved it!

Like it a lot. The price is awesome (maybe you can stack a few Macy’s coupons?).

I’ll be honest and say the top bodice with the wrap thing going on looks awkward to me - even on the model where they have tried to make it look the best it can! It’s like too much wrap!

I like Anne Klein but personally I would never buy that dress because of the bodice design. I’d feel like I was wearing a giant sling for the bosoms.

Will totally work for me… models are usually not very heavy in that area of female anatomy. She is wearing a wrong size. IMO.

I could probably use a sling for my bosoms!

If I wore that dress, it would shout, Look - here they are - I outlined them with a giant X to make them easy to find :eyes:.

No harm in trying it out if you like it!

I like the dress though agree that the bodice isn’t attractive on that model. Her shoulders are kind of slumped. But it could look great on you. Definitely worth a try.

I think the fullness of the skirt is kind of off for the bodice?? Or maybe it’s the length? But, it may very well be the dress isn’t suited to the model’s body type. I feel like it is supposed to sort of be a fit-and-flare design, and I’m not seeing that on her. But on a curvier person, it might be fabulous!

One thing I noticed (and it’s too hard to tell from the photo) but it almost looks like the skirt is not hemmed - just cut off the bolt. Might not be a deal breaker. The Alex Evenings scuba fabric dresses aren’t hemmed either.

I have had a couple of Anne Klein dresses and like them, but they have just been day dresses.

It might be how the model is wearing it - this is essentially the same dress but looks much nicer to me:

However, the two reviews each give it one star - yikes!

I so agree that a dress can look very different depending on the body type. These models are very straight up and down - the dress sevmom posted looks like it would be fab on a more curvy figure.

Definitely worth a try-on, but that type of bodice is tough. Any time I’ve tried on something with a twisted bodice, it never seems to lay right (and it shifts awkwardly every time I move). I actually think smaller busted women have a better shot with it (although I agree, the model is posed oddly). I’m not sure why designers even use it since it’s such a crap shoot for the right upper body type.

Negative reviews seem to be because of the fabric (itchy, unexpected metallic thread).

I think that type of style/bodice works best in a fabric with stretch. The similar dress is clearly a knit/stretchy. I am wondering if the dress that @sevmom has stretch or not. The fabrication is, “polyester,” in the description, so it seems unclear to me if it’s stretchy or not.

@sevmom i think this may be out of your price range or at least at the top end, but how do you feel about something like this:

This is the same dress with a different floral print, but on sale!

I have the first of those Komorov dresses hanging in my closet…to wear to a wedding in August. It’s a great dress.

Nordstrom has a few Komorov dresses on sale. I ordered one when I was looking for a MOG dress. They are such beautiful and comfortable dresses. It ended up not being “the one” but I would definitely recommend

The only issue with the two linked is that they are florals. I thought that the consensus was that a floral dress wouldn’t photograph well. Which is I think the reason why I didn’t pick the one I ordered.

Yes , I already have a floral I like but the consensus seemed to be that florals were not a good idea for MOG or MOB. As just a guest, it might work better. If I do decide to go with a floral, I’d probably wear the one I have already.
Right now, I’m focusing on solids. I like light blue the best .The stores, including Dillard’s, should be getting more spring pastels soon so I’ll keep looking. Thanks to @bhs1978 and others for the ideas and help! I’ll figure something out eventually!

Just saw this on Macy’s. Similar to another style they have from Alex Evenings but the bodice is a little different.
