So I would not opt for this choice myself (especially in that black / white color combo) … but it gets points for Being Different.
That’s pretty but I prefer this one.

I like that one, HImom! It looks similar to the one my mom wore at my wedding. Pretty!!
Colorado_mom - that’s a cool and different look!
6 posts were split to a new thread: Are jumpsuits cool again?
I wore that Alex Evenings dress to my niece’s wedding. Navy, I loved it!
Let’s talk MOB shoes for a wedding. D’s wedding and reception are outdoors at a ranch in the south in November. At the site it seems that there is sawdust, grass, stamped cement, and gravel. The wedding is semiformal with no dress yet. Probably no hose, low heels if any. I have a tendency to twist my ankle. Ideas?
Maybe one pair for the ceremony when hopefully you aren’t moving around too much and another pair for afterwards when you are mingling, dancing, encountering all those different surfaces?
I sometimes don’t know why if a couple chooses an outside venue that is multi surfaced and not level we don’t just expect less formal in shoe choices. Honestly if it’s me and I’m prone to awkwardness I’d want to switch into some sparkly or white Keds!!! More important to me to have fun and get around easy than to look like the perfect ensemble!!
Absolutely no hose! I’m in the same boat: kid picked a farmhouse as her wedding venue. I’m planning on wearing block heels or wedges.
Semi formal does not mean high heels. Cute flats or lower heel sandals will be just fine, as long as they look festive.
I wore some strappy sandals I loved with about a 2" heel and switched into cowboy boots for the reception. Yeehaw!
Great ideas. I never thought of changing shoes after the ceremony and for the reception. I’m going to get the dress first then coordinate.
I wore a lavender blue Komorov dress to my daughter’s wedding (not a floral). It was very comfortable and cool and I got a lot of compliments on it. Daughter’s wedding was a late afternoon garden wedding and reception. A beaded dress would have been heavy and just not right for the setting.
Get shoes that you can comfortably wear. Zappos is your friend.
I have two words….ballet flats. They come in some nice colors and styles, and are…flat. I have some I take to every wedding for the dancing part. And if walking on not level surfaces is required.
This is one of the shoe choices I’m considering for wearing at my kid’s wedding.
I’ll second Zappos for shoes! Especially if you have a UPS drop off nearby. You can ge all sorts of shoes, then just pack back up the ones that don’t work, eaily print out a shipping label, and drop off at UPS. I have ordered (and returned!) well over a 100 pairs in the past 10 years this way. Have also kept quite a few pairs! It’s particularly helpful if you have a shoe size or width that isn’t commonly in stock in brick and mortar stores…
I recently ordered another pair of boots from Zappos. Trying to find an elusive waterproof sneaker boot combo.
I remember the days of ordering and the fast, fast shipping. Like overnight! I loved Zappos.
I ordered the boots on February 1, they are supposedly on the ups truck today. I would have received a shipment from probably a dozen other retailers sooner. A little disappointed
Sold out at Neiman!
I provided the link just to illustrate the style. I got mine at a resale shop. No, I don’t expect anyone pay Neiman prices. Lol!
Whew! They look great…and comfortable. To me, comfort is key.
The nice thing about Zappos is they credit your card back as soon as the returned item is canned at UPS. They also carry a wide range of price points.
I might be the minority but I find ballet flats really uncomfortable.
@BunsenBurner that is a great style.
