Montclair State University vs. University of Delaware

I have no clue which college to choose from. Any opinions.

Montclair Pros:

  1. I live 45 minutes away, so it’s close
  2. Sister goes there- I have many connections.
  3. Cheaper by $2000 a year
  4. close to New York City
  5. diverse
  6. welcoming atmosphere
  7. off-campus life is great and convenient

Montclair cons:

  1. I go there so often it takes away from the new college experience I so desperately want
  2. academic programs are worse- percentage of those who graduate and get jobs is lower
  3. campus isn’t as nice

U Del pros:

  1. new college experience
  2. better academic programs
  3. gave me a scholarship which validates my hard work in high school (self esteem booster)
  4. beautiful campus

U Del cons:

  1. NEVER VISITED- don’t know as much about it/ no connections
  2. area outside of campus is “okay”; known for crime
  3. 2 hours away (I would want to visit home often so transportation might get expensive)
  4. more expensive ($2k more per yr)

also, u del has a gymnastics club which is a def pro

UDel all the way. Montclair simply doesn’t hold a candle to it, and you get to go OOS which is always a huge plus for a New Jerseyan. You’re also only paying a total of $8k more per year at UDel. It’s a no-brainer.
