Just curious how many of us are out there?

I think there are about 4-5 currently active (including you and I) but since I’ve been here I’ve seen like 15

I go to Moorpark as well.

I took one class this semester and one class next semester. I’m primarily a Pierce student.

At moorpark. hate it.
where’d you all apply to!! :)

Planning to attend Moorpark this summer.

Berkeley - Math/applied science
UCSD - computer science
UCLA - Math/econ [ will switch to mathematics of computation if accepted. I felt I had a better chance at math/econ as I don’t have all the prereqs for the other one]
UCSB - financial math [probably won’t go but I picked this major if I make a big career change]

Pierce student!

Hi! I go to Moorpark, though it’s distance education. I lived close to Moorpark before but due to various circumstances, I had to move to Riverside. I miss Moorpark’s campus. :|

EDIT: Planning to apply next fall for UCB, UCLA, and UCR, all for psychology. :)

I might! I heard from some random source that if you go to Moorpark, you don’t have to take placements in math or english. Is that true?

Someone else could answer this better - someone who’s taken English or math there-, but I’m pretty sure Moorpark doesn’t do placement testing. At least, I haven’t heard of it there in my 3 semesters. You could call to check, or maybe wait for someone who’s been there longer to say. :)

Moorpark DOES NOT do real testing. It’s like this five minute thing you do online. As long as you got C’s or better in Algebra 2 in high school, you can take College Algebra and Precalculus. It’s amazing.

Wow, really? Haha too bad I only passed Geometry, that would have made my life easier haha. Do they force you to take a million Algebra classes if you didn’t have Algebra 2?

Wait, I thought that transfers cannot change their major.

@Yoyo, it depends what you are trying to switch into. Math/Econ and Math/Comp are both in the Math department, and I have verified they would let me switch by email and, in addition, I personally know a 2 transfers who have performed a switch in the Math department. (One from pure to applied, and one from applied math to math/econ)

Switching to like Business/Economics or Communications is a lot harder (most would say it’s actually “impossible”, but I’m not sure about that. Bottom line - it’s very difficult to do.)

Interesting. I just wanted to know because I would be entering UCLA as an Applied Mathematics major if I got in.

Thanks for the information.
