More campus selections change chances?

I heard that if you put several campus selections on the application that could change your chances. The advice was to put down only your first and second choices because if you easily qualify for choice three they may not even bother to accept you in the other choices. Does this make sense and, more importantly, is it true?

hello tphssenior, i am from torrey pines high school also. in response to your question, no it is not true.

No, it makes no sense, and I don't think it's true.

yiou should indicate your first choice though. the one that youll for sure go to if you get in. this is so they dont gotta give you admission to a bunch of schools. I.E. say you value UCB over UCLA. then they wont give you admission to UCLA for nothing. Save the spot for some other student.

firewolf185, that is completely wrong. You do not indicate your top choice of UC on the application.

Nope, not true. And there is no indicating which school is your first choice on the application.

it does not make sense and it is not true.

wait.. so can you put down as many campuses as you want or is there a limit...l. Im thinking 4 oos

Yes, you can apply to as many campuses as you want.

but, its all on one app right.. with all the recommendations and transcripts its just want application yet to like 4 different schools right

Yes, one application. They don't accept recommendations or transcripts. However, your SAT and/or ACT scores need to be sent to each campus individually.

You apply to multiple schools with one application. But I don't think they take recommendations, and I don't believe they request transcripts until after you're admitted.

Edit: Bah. I'm slow today. :P
