Hi,
I am about to graduate high school this summer and I got into both GMU and Virginia Tech. I got into the CS program in Mason and general engineering program for Virginia Tech. I haven’t decided which college I will attend yet. So I just wanted to know which college will offer me more opportunities for internships and if I can do the internships during the school year.
Thanks
Both will offer good internship opportunities. When you visit each school, ask specifically about the job fairs for CS students - that’s an excellent vehicle for finding those opportunities. Some engineering specialties at VT have their own job fairs, others use the general engineering one (300+ companies split between regional and national companies). VT has 2 fairs/year - fall is typically bigger with more opportunities. One of my son’s roommates in CS did a co-op for credit during the school year, and interned each summer. No trouble getting a job at graduation although it’s a very competitive market. Don’t know as much about GMU but they do have good connections with DC area firms so would expect plenty of options there. The 2 schools are MUCH different in feel so I’d take that into account as well.
