Transfer/internships

Is it really true that while studying at George Mason University, there are a lot of internships in DC, VA?
I got accepted into Virginia Tech, UVA, and George Mason University. I'm doing Computer Science major at college, however I may not be able to afford VT and UVA, and Im considering GMU (cheaper, a fairly good school) for transfer . But is it true that a student can get a lot of internship opportunities or is this just a university's "brainwashing" of students ?

My son is at Mason majoring in Software Engineering and has an awesome paid security engineering internship with a major company. However, it didn’t just get handed to him, he applied for 10-20 internships on his own right after freshman year. Due to Mason’s proximity to DC and Northern Virginia companies and government agencies, you can often keep your internship over the school year as well (which really helps when it’s a paid internship). Having said that, you need to be proactive and go after internship opportunities on your own, don’t wait for Mason to set one up for you. They do have career/internship fairs at Mason, and that helps, but again be proactive and look up internship applications online too. Good luck!
