Hi,
I am about to graduate high school this summer and I got into both GMU and Virginia Tech. I got into the CS program in Mason and general engineering program for Virginia Tech. I haven’t decided which college I will attend yet. So I just wanted to know which college will offer me more opportunities for internships and if I can do the internships during the school year.
If you plan to stay local over the summer or after graduation living near DC is a great place to be since there are so many internship opportunities here. In fact some GMU students are able to take part in internships during the school year. If you attend VT which is also a great school most likely you will still be going to some city for internships over the summer. It maybe in your home town or in another city. I would recommend posting on the VT thread to ask about students doing internships during the school year. I know students who have attended UVA and VT that have come back home over the summer for internships in this area. I think both schools would provide for internship opportunities. There is a also a wealth of opportunities in the Dulles area.
I would recommend visiting both schools and seeing where you would most feel comfortable for the next four years. Both schools offer amazing opportunities.
