More Laptop Help

Hey guys I just have quick tech question on the computer requirements. My uncle works at apple and he got my sister a macbook pro for her graduation. However Virginia Tech seems pretty against the macbook pros.... I was wondering if anyone knows the exact difficulties or problems with using macs instead of a tablet. Obviously I am going to have to buy a separate tablet for some of the assignments, but I will be getting a Macbook practically for free and would prefer if there was a way around the whole PC or dell route. I have read the requirements but I still am unsure and would like to hear from someone who has used macs in freshmen engineering. Thanks a lot, this is really the only thing bothering me about VT right now.

Macs can dualboot into windows. That is an option. I would take the laptop if it was basically free. I think the requirements changed this year to allow for the tablet accessories instead of a full on tablet.
