More okay-challenging APs or fewer, more challenging APs + IB?

I'm split between taking 4 APs and an IB SL course

OR taking 3 APs and an IB HL course.

i like all the classes though i think 3 APs and an IB will be more manageable cuz then i'll have an extra free period.

which one will look more challenging?

It’s basically

AP Bio
AP Lang
AP Calc AB
AP Euro

and IB Spanish SL

or AP Bio
AP lang
AP calc AB
IB Spanish HL.

the problem is, i know that the IB spanish teacher is known to NOT give As. and i cannot get anything below an A cuz it would be going down from a 4.0 which is not a uphill direction…

this is junior year too.

If you take the schedule with HL Spanish, you’re taking four classes that can get you college credit (depending on how well you do, of course). With SL Spanish, you’re taking four classes for credit plus an extra one (SL courses generally don’t count towards credit).

I would say base it on which class you want to take more: AP Euro or IB Spanish. I don’t know much about AP classes since I’m in an IB school, but generally language classes aren’t the hardest IB classes you can take. Your exams will be graded by other (hopefully objective) teachers in other schools, and the harder your teacher makes you work, the better your exam grade will be (which is what counts) since you’re being graded against everyone else who takes the exam.

I hope that helps.

^ thanks. though i’m actually not taking it for the credit. AP language courses are way too easy and i want a challenge for foreign language, so i go to IB ^^.

also, if you take spanish HL don’t you have to commit to two years of it?

yep. so i’m taking Y1 in junior and Y2 in senior. i think that part is okay…

if i don’t take IB spanish in junior, then i’ll take my next level which is a normal course, and then just take Y1 in senior year (they allow it in my school).
