Stanford, William and Mary

Caltech’s original campus is gorgeous. Lovely Spanish Colonial revival, with gorgeous arcades, walled in olive gardens. In the spring the iris, jacaranda and wisteria are all blooming. Just stunning. I like the scale of it too - very human.

I liked the Georgetown campus a lot, a good variety of buildings, good use of the hills, and the modern infill was nice too.

I’m very fond of collegiate gothic, so there are pieces of West Point, Yale and Princeton that I think look great. I also thought U of Chicago in the spring was gorgeous, though it’s got a couple of not so handsome buildings (the Brutalist main library for example) smack in the middle of things.

EK4, that’s a surprise to me, though Portland weather sure could make a difference. The campus is a former mansion that was donated and the grounds are well maintained. Very different from the wildness across the river at Reed.

Beauty is really in the eyes of the viewer. It could be the grounds, the natural splendor nearby, the architecture…

Of those we visited:

Colgate
University of Richmond
UVA
William and Mary
Marist

I haven’t visited many schools but I went once to the 9/11 reflecting pools at Pepperdine. It was gorgeous.

Stanford, UCLA.

I wasn’t impress with Pepperdine. The view is spectacular though.

I would throw in Colorado College. DS’s window view is Pike’s Peak.

What goes wrong in June??

We have seen some beautiful campuses and I agree with many of those mentioned here. The University of Richmond surprised us with its beauty. I would also add The University of Alabama, very similar to UVa in feel, and Miami University in Ohio.

Vanderbilt has a very attractive campus. They are a national arboretum and student health will be lined with allergy sufferers during the next month who can attest to that fact!

I haven’t been to all that many campuses, but I agree that Stanford is a gorgeous campus. Pepperdine has a beautiful setting. :)

Colorado-Boulder

Swarthmore (with admitted bias).

USD
Pepperdine
Stanford
Furman
Richmond

Pomona College, beautiful, and it makes me feel happy when I am there.
Scripps College, it has an intimate ethereal beauty.
University of Washington, when the trees are in blossom.

University of Virginia
Elon
Colby

Haverford (felt very peaceful - simple beauty)
Elon (nice layout, well maintained)
Tulane (sentimental favorite - love the city)

Salve Regina in Newport Rhode Island. Small campus right on the cliffs over looking the Atlantic on mansion row surrounded by and next to the Vanderbilt mansion as well as many other historic turn of the century mansions that are now historic landmarks and part of the famous mansion tours.

University of Montana has a beautiful campus, as does UWashington (UDub).

There are so many beautiful campuses that I feel kind of bad when I see an ugly one!

Lots of California coastal colleges on the list but I am not partial to those…I grew up in California and kind of idealize the Northeastern ivy-covered look.

University of Chicago is gorgeous
Fordham is beautiful
UVa is amazing

I think I like the traditional look more than the California modern or mission.
