Most competitive regions?

Just wondering, what are the most competitive districts? Unluckily, we're (my son) from Maryland (District 6 - western part), which I hear is a rough state. What would the typical stats for a competitive candidate from this kind of area be?

Probably the same as everyone else's, on average. It would largely come down to some little detail that got the candidate the nomination over the next guy.

The most "competitive" states tend to be VA, MD, PA as well as parts of TX, CA, and FL. However, all noms are competitive.

There is no way to predict what your son will "need" in terms of stats and stats are only part of the equation. Most nominating committees consider actitivities, recommendations and the personal interview as well. He should definitely apply for EVERY nom (including VP) for which he's eligible.

Good luck!
