Most Depressing Movies.

I'm kind of a fan of depressing :( movies. What do you guys think the top depressing movies are?

1.) Leaving Las Vegas
2.) House of Sand and Fog
3.) 21 Grams
4.) Mystic River

Oh god, Legends of the Fall! And you're definitely right about House of Sand and Fog and Mystic River.

Also, Requiem for a Dream is a different kind of depressing.

Pay it Forward...it was ridiculously sad.

Donnie Darko? AI?

I Am Sam was really sad.

I second "Requiem for a Dream" Also "Schindlers List" left me drained.

I agree with Mystic River being sad, though it's one of my faves, along with Million Dollar Baby. If MDB isn't sad, I don't know what is. :(

Personally, I thought Closer was sad. The characters - played by really good actors - depressed me. Not really the type of people I want to be around but a good character study still.

Did anyone ever watch "Homeless to Harvard ?" Thats story was really sad.

I thought that "Life is Beautiful" was sad...

The scene where Guido (Benini) is making up that German translation at the concentration camp is so classic and moving. The ending speaks for itself.

Nobody Knows, japanese movie about kids being abandoned by their mother. based on a true story

Agreed...Million Dollar Baby was sad...and so was I Am Sam. Man on Fire was depressing, too.

Oh damn. You're right. MOF was depressing, how it ended and all. Denzel Washington was awesome in it though.

Even as a fan of Meryl Streep, I could never bring myself to watch this movie again. Great movie - just too god-awful depressing.

requiem for a dream is mindblowing. it's almost too powerful to be depressing. but i heard 'a river runs through it' is really sad, havent seen it.

dcfca, "Grave of the Fireflies" is another Japanese movie about abandoned children during WWII. It was probably the saddest movie I have ever seen.

I agree with Sophie's Choice.

I second Grave of the Fireflies

Legends of the Fall
The Notebook

I haven't really seen any of the other ones you mentioned.

life is beautiful
also the new star wars movies :D

I normally don't cry during movies, no matter how emotional. but mystic river had me crying 30 minutes into it. that movie is just so depressing...one of my favorite movies though. I have seen it more than once, unlike million dollar baby. MDB is an awesome movie, but I don't think I could watch it again. brilliant, though.
