Does anyone know the highest amount that NYU offers, not including loans or workstudy?

IDK the highest amount, but the highest that I've seen posted here was 20,000.

hmmm....30,000 for NYU...sounds pretty good to me!

A child at my d school got 25K scholarship

Someone on another thread posted that last year their son got 2 scholarships from NYU totaling $30K.

wow.. how do you get these scholarships.. what are the requirements?
Is there anyway to bargin for more money?

I am slightly confused. Are these 25-40K scholarships per year or a total of 6-10K a year scholraships?

My son did receive 2 different 15K scholarships for his freshman year. They told us that he would retain them unless he became stupid or I won the lottery. Luckily and unfortunately (in that order), neither has happened. We realize that getting 30K a year from NYU is an anomoly but it really happened for my son. My brother did graduate from NYU 20 years ago (but he's not rich and donating lots of money)

Actually getting that scholarship $$ is like winning the lottery to us. thankfully I can afford to pay the difference with cash and Federal aid (2400 perkins and 3500 stafford loans). No pell grants, our EFC was ~12K.

My son is a Cas Freshman, his SAT was 2250

LOL, Sue you are too funny. I am glad for your family. That much in scholarships from NYU seems to be a great accomplishment and SAT's like that obviously put him in the top of the applicant pool. I hope that A)Your son does NOT become stupid and B) You win the Lottery in 10 years!!

I just got my fin. aid package and got a combined scholarship of $24,000 (20 from Tisch, 4 from Ekman Scholarship). I thought NYU was notorious for NOT giving aid...and I got into my dream school, USC, so I'm prob. going to have to turn it down.

Damn... I'm happy for you, Sue, but you EFC is definitely lower than mine though I was hoping to get at least somewhat close to that amount of aid. I fear that that won't happen. Maybe there will be more available for Gallatin students??

Agg, this tension is killing me --my aid award is of equal importance to the admissions decision I've already received.

I got 25K from the CAS Scholarship today...too bad there is no way I could take the rest of the COA out in loans.

Sue, if you win the lottery jackpot of like $135 million, what do you care if you have to pay $220k over the time of your son's college career? After taxes, you still have $75 million.

I received the 25k from CAS as well and a very foggy mention of money for Honors

I'm not sure, but I believe $25k is the largest single chunk that can be awarded. However, like in the case of sueinphilly's son, it seems that some people do get two $15k scholarships, for a total of $30k overall.

Oh yea I received about 30K in financial aid not including loans so I'm guessing that would be about the highest amount they offer...It costs so much and it's lower in rank than UCs...I wouldn't think it's worth it...

Did you guys get your aid in the mail? I haven't gotten anything from NYU except for the admissions packet, which didn't tell me what my aid was. Then when I tried looking online, I couldn't get a pin or username, or whatever it's called. xD So I can't look at anything online.

I have been admitted (and plan to attend) Tisch. I received 35k excluding loans. I was reading on the boards how NYU has been really stingy, so I was very very surprised when I got my FA packet.

You already go yours? When did you get it? Was it by mail? What was your EFC? xD Sorry if I asked too much.

Ahh thats np at all!

Uhhh.. it came in the big great purple folder like everything else. My EFC is under 10k, but I believe its irrelevant if you applied for FA.

Did you submit your FAFSA before February 15th? Or at all?
