Most Underrated college in the Country

uconn by far is the most underrated.

middlebury as well- since this is not supposed to be just an alma mater list- but gtown mainly...tee hee

Reed College
Harvey Mudd

UChicago by far (waitlisted there so its not a biased choice)

Southern schools like Emory, Swanee, and Davidson are often overlooked. I've seen a precipitous rise in the stature of Vanderbilt here in the past few years, so I'm not including it. On the other hand, I don't hear much about Midwestern schools outside of Northwestern and WashU on this board.

Um, I don't think any ivy or near-ivy is really underrated, when we're talking about universities. Move into the LAC range though, and you'll find a ton, and a personal favorite underrated (I never applied so it's not really biased):

St. Olaf

UChicago in terms of education/academics.

Umm...I started a thread like this a while ago, but ok...

UChicago, Michigan, Emory ... many more

i thought this thread referred to US News rankings in terms of underrated (not word of mouth and such) and thus said Stanford because I really don't think it's inferior to UPenn and Berkeley, because it really should be in the low teens...

If it weren't for the US News rankings, I don't think many people would even know about how great schools such as Vanderbilt, UChicago, Emory, Rice, etc are.

^^^^^ yoooooo, smokeylarue ^^^^
I TOTALLY AGREE

The reason you don't hear much about LAC is because they cater to a minority of the population. The average person would prefer to attend a university. LAC's and universities should be grouped seperately as they offer vastly different experiences.

UMich, UCLA, and UVA are all underrated just because they are public universities. Too many people seem to think it's UCB then everybody else, and I would venture to say that all of these schools are at least equal in most fields.

University of Southern California
University of Colorado
University of Washington
Emory
University of North Carolina
Carnegie Mellon

University of Florida (not saying it's perfect, just underrated)

the "average person" smitter? is that why schools like williams and amherst reject so many valedictorians?

Bowling Green, Cincinatti, DePaul, and Loyola (MD) are all underrated as well!
