Mount Holyoke Leadership Award- how many students receive it?

Hi all,
I’m just curious if anyone has any idea how many students receive Mount Holyoke College’s Leadership Award. Also, if one receives the award, are they likely to be granted Smith’s STRIDE scholarship?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Did you receive an early write acceptance from Smith? if so, your chances of getting STRIDE are quite good. I’m not sure how many students get early writes, but I do know that Smith awards STRIDE to about 50 people.
I’m also not sure how many students receive the MHC award, but I know that it’s one step down from the 21st Century Scholarship in terms of money, and focused a bit more on leadership than on academics. MHC scholarships are definitely competitive, so you probably have a shot at STRIDE. Best of luck!

200-250 students are awarded the STRIDE…50+/- accept and matriculate.

Smith really needs to work on its wording: “This scholarship of $15,000 per year for four years is awarded to approximately 50 students each year.” It is unclear if 50 people accept the scholarship, or if 50 students are awarded the scholarship in their acceptance packages. (The latter option seeming far too selective). Thanks for the clarification, CrewDad!

IMO, the wording does a disservice to prospective students.
A number of years ago, UVM had similar wording regarding the number of awards to the Honors College. During a conversation with UVM’s Dean of Admission, I mentioned the wording was deceiving. The wording was changed that afternoon. I appreciated that UVM believed honesty was more important than marketing.
