Move in Day Aug. 30 questions

My son did not rsvp for a drop off time on the 30th. Are we completely hosed? Can we sneak in with a car anyway? We will be moving him into Hayden.

i didn’t even know we had a reservation system :-/.

i think you can just drive up.

(I haven’t moved in yet either so this is just speculation) The site says if you come at a different time than your reservation (or lack of) they will fit you in at the end of the current timeslot. In reality though I don’t think they’ll tell you “NO YOU CAN’T MOVE IN” if you’re there already.
Also, maybe he can still RSVP?

We tried to rsvp and the website says all reservations are filled. I guess we will just show up and hope for the best. I wonder what time would be best. I am thinking first thing in the morning say 9 am

Yeah, I would definitely suggest just going as early as possible, so they can try and squeeze you in beforehand.

Do you know what time is good to show up at the dorms?

Last year we got there around 8. Already a very long line. Really got hot, but no rain. Often they’ll start checking people in before the official start time if the check-in people are ready.
Looking back, one of two alternatives work well:

  • Get in line early with all your stuff, fit everything in the gray rolling thing, make just one trip up the elevator.
  • Get in line early with just a few things to get the room, pick a bed, etc. Then move the rest of the stuff in much later in the day, when the lines are shorter. Some kids just came in the evening; cooler, no lines, but they were starting to have orientation stuff. But move-in would have been faster.
Some of it depends on how much stuff you have. Helps to have two adults.

Does anyone know if its as busy for upperclassmen? I know we dont have to register for check in times, but I’m hoping it isn’t too packed or anything.

When d was freshman last year, we just showed up. Nobody checked anything as far as having a move in time.
