Moving from SoCal to Berk?

Just want to see anyone is moving from SoCal to Berkeley?

FROM CC:SMC
Major:PSYCHOLOGY

college: cypress
major: sociology

all us so cal ppl should meet up when we get to berkeley! woohoo!!!

Can I bump a ride?

UCDavis has offered a trip to its campus (free). Dont know if UCB has such service or not.

how are u guys gonna move? this is crazy seriously... i really might have to drive up there
think about all my computers and stuff... wow its impossible to pack them in 2 suit cases...

i can't live without computers =.= sry
i guess my macbook will have to do for the first few weeks or smth...
omg
y can't they come to us xD

how are u guys gonna get there? rent a uhaul?

uhaul? Are you moving your entire apartment?

I move around a lot so I pack light. I'm used to it.

Mode of transportation via greyhound, airplane, or train. Whichever is cheaper. Bumping a ride from someone = cheap fun road trip.

Drive. It's not a terrible drive.

If you're living in a non-dorm situation, here's a little info. Check out a map of Berkeley. The area north (northside) of campus is expensive but nice. It's also really hilly if you're riding a bike.

The area south (called, you guessed it, southside) is pretty flat relative to campus, although the campus itself is on a little bit of a hill. For most, the commercial vibrancy and easy transportation in southside is a big selling point.

The west side of campus heads toward the water, and so the grade is a little steep for bicycle riding, but really not too bad. Everything west of Shattuck is thought to be 'shady' by some (I heard some kids on campus saying that they never go west of Shattuck because it isn't safe) but this is ridiculous. All of Berkeley is vastly safer than Oakland, and much (MUCH) safer than some parts of LA. So westside may not be as posh, but it doesn't really matter.

All of Berkeley has a respectable public transportation system and is well served by BART for getting into the city. Berkeley students receive complimentary usage of all the busses as part of their tuition. Just flash your student ID, and you're in.

I will probably rent a uhaul. I have beds, tables, chairs, suitcases, books, clothes, tv......basically everything..haa
I think I have to first go there to rent an apartment, so I can move my stuffs from LA to Berk.....plus, I have a car in LA too......
I guess I may have to go back n forth by flights and cars for few times.
it's seems that going to UCLA is much easier.....it's just 30 mins away =_=

moving from azusa, ca.

completely terrified. beyond terrified.
in fact, this fear has totally taken away from the excitement to the point that i just want to accept cal poly pomona's offer and stay at home & not leave my friends or job or the place that's been so familiar.

k gonna go look into therapy at this point. =[

rowland here... not that far from azusa...
8 hours drive =.=
btw when can u start getting housing at cal?

from LA area to UCB.

Guardiangel: I guess you can apply cal housing now, and the deadline is June 3rd.
I am also thinking about the housing at cal, but it seems a bit too expensive!

Just an advice to you guys if you guys are not dorming look for an apartment soon as possible you do not want to live downhill or you will be biking up the hill everyday.

i heard that transfers only get unit 1 2 and 3
i m not sure
foothill is not available for transfers?

I Move From Hacienda Heights To Ucb!!! Not Far From Rowland Heights Or Azusa!

LA to UCB. I got into both but i realized that there's no way i could say no to berkeley (even though my original plan/dream was ucla).

Dorm or appartment? I know 0 people up there. what do you guys think?

same here............ I thought UCLA was my dream school, and Berkeley was just a bonus. Somehow, I do not know how to say NO to berkeley too...

Probably i will just rent a room myself, and start a new life up there......i know no one too=[ actually i m kind of worry.

If you don't know anybody its probably best to go for the dorms. Apartments are really hard to find in Berkeley, and if you do get lucky and find a decent one, then its going to be hard to meet people and stuff.

I am lucky and I already have an apartment in a great location (Milvia and Dwight). Went in on it early with some homies that already attend, without knowing if I was accepted or not. Whew!!!!!

b1gmuff: How much are you going to pay a month?

Brea resident here! I'll probably drive my truck up there with the few luggage I have in the back.

Anyone else going to the Welcome reception at LA on May 10th? I think it'd be cool if we all meet up before we start school at CAL.
