I have a question on physically dragging your belongings to your dorm.

I am in Knott, and I see a visitor parking right across the dorm where my family could park and carry all bags for only a short period of time. Is this possible? Will the parking lot be open on 23rd?

And can I move in on 23rd? I remember PutschCasusBelli talking about how he got to move in early with permission.

They give you pretty much free reign to drive up to your dorm on move-in day. Don't be afraid to have your parents drive up to a window / gate - the people that work those realize you can't haul your myriad possessions from some far-off parking lot.

Not sure if you can move in early, I highly doubt it.

Freshman can only move-in on Friday I believe. You might as well be able to just drive your truck right into Knott since it has its own parking lot. They shouldn't hassle you and there will be plenty of signs telling you which direction to go and hall staff should help you out.

You need special permission from reslife. Rectors only have control over special rooms (RA rooms, Frosh-O Commissioners, etc) The rest of the situations (band, sports, job,...) have to be cleared with reslife.

Freshman Son moved in a day early last year, and I don't think the rector was even aware! We just happened to drive on to campus that day just to see where dorm was located, etc. Older guys were already helping others move in--I think they were hoping to alleviate some of the traffic and parking issues. They were more than happy to allow him to move in! If you arrive early, the most they can say is No--so try and see if they will allow you to move.

i live in knott, and i am going to be there for frosh-o...i never tried to move in early last year but i'll be there early this year (sneaking in kus my roommate is in band haha)...im gonna be all for helping freshmen move in early, but we'll have to see what brojo does (he can be pretty senile so it is very possible you could walk right past him)
