Hi, one of my college essays is about the night my family and i moved to the US and it also highlights my relationship to my family and relatives.
Is it a risky essay??? and if it is, how can i tweak it to make it not sound cliche?

I don't know if the topic itself is overdone or not, but adcoms have probably seen all sorts of essays. If the essay offers a different take on the immigration experience than the cookie-cutter "this is how it made a better person" essay, then it could work really well. I like how you plan to highlight your relationship with your family.

Just as an aside, a risky essay would not be cliche, and a cliched essay wouldn't be risky now would it?

Yes it is cliche but topic really doesn't matter if you made it insightful and personal to you. :)

There are no cliche topics.

There are only cliche treatments of topics.
