3.65 with 45 credits

Congratulations @catsmeow94 !

@fiction118 I was the exact same way! I kept checking the portal every day and the first day I stopped checking I got the email haha. Yes I will be attending!!! Woohoo lol. Have you applied to transfer anywhere else?

@greenappleok just western (accepted last week) but definitely would prefer MSU! Not sure if I would even go to WMU, I really wanted to be in east lansing, so fingers crossed!

Question: Do you guys think if I submitted my app 2 weeks ago its possible that I will hear back in 6 or 7 weeks because there is likely not as many applications at this time?

@Bromeantwos actually the bulk of the applications probably were in by January (most of the other people I spoke to had their apps in by Nov 16) I would say you probably will only have to wait less time because they began reviewing applications two weeks ago. You will likely hear back by the end of March. Good luck!

I’ve been stalking this thread since it was posted! I submitted my application the first day I was able to (which if I recall was November 18th), and my status says it still is being reviewed. I’m so anxious and nervous Congrats to those who have been accepted, hopefully I will be able to join in the celebration!

I submitted my app on 12/5/13. Also still being reviewed. I called them this morning and they said they started handing out decisions last week. Said they’d finish them all in March.

I don’t like waiting :(

Welcome to the party @Mewsic ! Also to you and @puremeerkat I started the thread and I still haven’t heard yet either (under review :c) I know none of us will stop freaking out, just know that I have been having a continuous panic attack for the past week (I’m not even joking; had to break out the xanax the other day!) It’s the not knowing that sucks the most! Stay strong and listen to One Direction. And/Or google pictures of corgi/husky corgi/lab mixes. Here is a freebie: http://www.corgihuskymix.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Corgi-Husky-Mix-14.jpg

Still waiting here as well.

So, I called them today… and I was told that even though they have all of my official transcripts of my most recent grades, I still have to self report them through the site. Once I do that my application will be put back into the que to be reviewed. HOW STUPID D: I wish someone would have told me that back in December!! I’m pretty upset about this. I thought because they had my transcripts, that I wouldn’t need to self report.

Hi Everyone. I know it’s late but I sent my application 2/24/14 and all my transcripts are sent today and will be recieved in 3-5 business days and my application is already under review. I am an immigrant and qualify for financial aid. Have a 4.0 from my last college with 27 college credits and a 26 on my ACT. Just in case I sent H.S. transcripts and AP credits are already in their system. Chances of getting in? I’m also visiting March 21st

hey @mewsic I know, their admissions system is quite faulted. I hadn’t posted my experience yet for my app, but now I will. First of all, when I applied as a senior is high school, I was given bad information multiple and when I asked that they had received all of my information, (transcripts, ACT scores etc) they said it was all in. As it turns out, it wasn’t, they did not even check. I was not accepted because they then received it too late.

So this time, as I applied for transfer. I clarified every little detail. Saved every email, took notes on phone calls, just to be sure. When I wanted to speak with an admissions counselor to discuss questions I had, I was told that service was unavailable to transfer students, which is frankly ridiculous. My current college advisor suggested I meet with an advisor within the English Department (my desired field) I made an appointment and went it. She was upfront that she did not know about the admissions process but could tell me about other questions. I asked about the CLEP.

I took the English Comp/analyzing lit CLEP. I was not allowed to speak with an admissions counselor so I could not ask if it would be accepted. So I asked English advisor and she said that the CLEP transferred to my school as a class (she did this all while viewing my transcripts) and said that it was transfer to MSU as a class, not as the CLEP. She even wrote a little check mark next to that on my transcript to note what she said.

Last Friday I found out I was not accepted. Disappointed, I checked the PDF of the available letter and it said:

“While the grades earned in the courses you have completed would suggest that you have the
ability to succeed in the college setting, your academic history does not include a transferable
English composition course essential for admissions consideration to Michigan State University.”

Basically, that I would do well at MSU (I have 60 credits and am a member of Phi Theta Kappa honors society) but because I didn’t have the English credits, I could not be accepted. However, I DO have the English credits. I called to see if there was anything to be rectified, but I knew that once again, MSU admissions department had given me inaccurate information.

Let me preface this by saying, frankly, I’m kind of adorable on the phone. I’m able to get a positive response almost every time I need to call somewhere (even when the information is not what I was hoping for. Essentially, i wasn’t being rude, I was being very kind and positive.

So the reaction I got in response was rather upsetting.

The student I spoke to that answered the phone rather snottily said “well I have never heard of anyone transferring in CLEP” and was extremely unapologetic to the fact I had received a rejection. As if not being accepted meant I was no longer deserving of their time. She did offer to transfer me to Glen Brough, Assistant Director of Admissions. Mr. Brough was less negative, but clearly irritated with me. He was overly assertive about the situation, even when I told him that the English advisor with MSU had said my CLEP was fine.

My sister graduated from MSU Lyman Briggs in 2013. My mother graduated from MSU. My grandmother graduated from MSU. My grandfather graduated from MSU. I did not presume to be accepted to this school because of my family history. My merits should have allowed for my acceptance. I was proud to be a Spartan, but it seems that in the past few years, the administration has changed drastically. I’m so very disappointed with the poor treatment I have received both times I applied, as is my family.

I sincerely wish the best of luck/great experience to those admitted. I simply wanted to document my experience on the internet so others can learn from me. I know that even if someone in admissions saw this post nothing would be done to adjust their ways. I now must give the ultimate judgement: my experience and the way I was treated felt like the snottiness and entitlement I’ve often experienced with other certain universities (HINT HINT).

Again, good luck to those admitted, and to those still waiting!

Do you think it would slow down my application process if they received a letter of rec?

I’m sorry to hear that @fiction118 I feel like that would be the sort of thing I was expecting to happen. Once I self reported my grades I got a response at the end of last week. They recognize my potential to succeed at MSU, but would like to have my grades from my current semester before they make a decision. So I guess there is still some hope still, for me.

@mewsic thanks! Good luck to you! After the experience I have had though, I feel like its kind of a blessing, MSU is just not somewhere I want to be anymore. But I really hope that what you’re looking for is still offered there, and hopefully things return to normal!

Hey Everyone! I applied like the very end of February (28th) and didn’t get all my transcripts in until March 17th and I JUST GOT ACCEPTED TODAY!!! ^:)^ I had a 4.0 at my current school and a 26 on my H.S. ACT and 3.98 GPA from H.S. and I’m coming in on 41 credits. So to those who applied late there is hope and if you had good grades you can get an earlier decision than 12 weeks! Hope this helps. Does anyone know anything about scholarships?

Has anyone else heard back? I go to MSU right now, but my boyfriend is trying to get in through transfer (as a junior) for civil engineering.
What do you think his chances are given his stats:
3.3 GPA (I think he’ll have something like 60 credits by the end of this semester)
Kept a job all this year, and last year he mentored a high school robotics team full time for an entire semester while going to school full-time. He also lobbied in Washington this past summer with the NPTA.
He meets all the engineering college requirements and the WRA requirement as well
He is also a very talented writer so his personal statement was very good, too.

I thought he would be a shoe-in for admission, but because still hasn’t heard back (he applied January 21st) and he’s trying for engineering with a 3.3, I’m worried now. Thoughts?

^Still waiting here as well (applying to Broad). I think that it takes longer for the colleges that have their own admissions requirements, (Broad and Engineering, for example) because they have to determine admissibility to MSU as a whole first and then the particular college has to determine if they are admissible.

Thanks so much for replying, I actually hadn’t considered that yet, but that could easily be why it’s taking so long. Also what I have considered is for current students, the deadline to sign up for on-campus housing ended April 1st. I’ve thought they might have been waiting to make some decisions to see how much room they would have after all continuing students have signed up for transfer/new students.
