@spartanboy19 so then that means you are admissible and can go there this fall? Even if you don’t get accepted into business school?
This is what it says now:
“Thank you for your interest in Michigan State University. The Admissions Committee has completed a careful review of your application for fall 2019. While your academic record would suggest that you have the ability to succeed at Michigan State, the committee has determined that we would like to review your final grades for the current term before rendering a final decision.
Upon the completion of this term, you must update your academic record via your online student portal by (U.S. domestic institutions only):
- Submitting final grades for currently enrolled courses
- Ensuring all completed courses and grades have been reported
- Providing course information for anticipated courses prior to matriculation to Michigan State University
These steps must be accomplished even if you have provided official transcripts. The admission review process is made solely on your self-reported academic record for U.S. domestic institutions. Once admitted, you must provide all official transcripts for academic record verification and transfer credit evaluation.
Official paper transcripts must be submitted for all international institutions attended. This academic record cannot be self-reported. If the transcript is not in English, a translation must be provided.
A final admission decision will not be made on your application until these actions have been completed.”
Pretty straightforward then. I wish you luck for the rest of the semester! At least there is some sort of peace of mind there. I wonder if many (if any) other people have gotten accepted who aren’t also applying for business or medical schools.
what school/major did you apply to?
@rdtosparty yes, that is correct!
I applied for a Mathematics major. For anyone who is concerned that they may get the same message I did, keep in mind that I’ve only completed 18 credits. MSU wants to see at least 28 completed credits along with completion of the math and writing requirements. Even though I applied with a 4.0 and 18 credits, chances are they want to see me complete their requirements. I am currently taking MSU’s equivalent of Calculus 1 and Writing 101, so it makes sense that they’d want to see how I do in those before making a final decision.
Curious - does 28 credits completed include credit for AP courses that a community college has granted? @Student80001
I’m not sure. I would suggest calling the office of admissions and asking them.
@sunnyschool i feel like as long as you got 28 credits that’s good… doesn’t matter how you got them, what they are, what classs they were… just 28 credits. I assume if you’re above the 28 credits that you don’t get that “give us your spring grades” message like a few people on here have.
Is anyone applying for college of business? I applied a week ago, then my account switched to “your application is currently under the review process” and this morning it updated to say I’m admissible to the college but the college of business has yet to review my app. I am very confused as to what that means.
Sounds like what @spartanboy19 is at. Admissible to MSU in the fall but business school hasn’t accepted you yet.
I guess I’m confused as to what happens if I’m not admissible to business school? Do I just have to change my major?
I think so. But don’t change anything until you hear about the business school. I would call or email them how long that might take or anything like that
I have and if I’m being honest, haven’t gotten much help.
Have you guys heard anything yet?
@rachhp I have heard nothing as of yet. I applied when it opened up in mid November and it switched to “under review” with everyone else on January 11th and no updates since
@rachhp Hi! yes the same thing happened to me about a week a go. The business school needs to accept you before you can actually major in anything business related, so you are going to have to submit your transcripts within 2 weeks iof your notice. You are admissible to MSU, but this step is just to see if you are qualified for the business school yet or not. I haven’t finished my business core classes so i know eli broad will deny me, but you can re apply to business school each semester and it’s recommended to do it sophomore year as that is usually when everyone is qualified for it.
Actually, I’m in the EXACT same position. I won’t get in because I do not have some of the prerequisites done since my community college does not offer them. Did you switch your major for now? And if so, did your status still remain admissible?
Wasn’t sure if it tagged you lol @spartanboy19
@rachhp Honestly, i thought about it. But i don’t think i’m going to! Realistically, the only pre-req i can’t get done at my Community Coolege is CSE, so the only things i need to finish to get into Eli Broad is that and Calc and Stats. So I think i’m just gonna take my rejection fromm Eli Broad and re-apply later on!
has anyone heard anything?
