Not a thing ?
does anyone know if we’ll get an email for our admissions decision? also i applied to the school of communication arts and sciences and haven’t heard anything at all !!!
I received my decesion today and got in!! Which doesn’t make sense because I applied a couple weeeks ago?
@rachhp congrats!! Anyone else?
What were your stats? (Grades and credits)
So awesome that you got in so quickly!
Yeah please do tell! @rachhp
were you in state or out of state?
I applied the first week of January and my application switched over to review with everyone else’s around January 11th.
I’m incredibly nervous that I won’t hear back until August like some people last year! I went back to school a year ago after a 10 year hiatus. Since going back to school I’m carrying a 4.0, but my grades from 10 years ago were rubbish. My overall gpa is 2.88 with 62 credits. I’ve already been accepted to Spring Arbor University, but MSU is the only near by school with the major I want (horticulture). I am going crazy with all of this waiting. I’m a 30 year old mom of 4, so I can’t afford to not plan!
Anyone with similar gpa?
@spartyhopeful @Dowelly @rdtosparty @kmalin
Thank you all! I currently have 54 credits with a 3.4 GPA. I also completed all suggested classes for transfer students. I am in-state.
I applied with a 3.4 gpa and will have 57 credits when entering (and applied for the media and information major) but i still haven’t heard anything back
I’m in a similar, but slightly different boat than you @Dowelly . I went to a 4-year university my freshman year with a major I ended up hating, annnnnnd I got academically dismissed with a 1.6 GPA from that school. Over that Summer, I really thought over what I want to do with my life. I then enrolled in a community college with a major that I knew I could both enjoy and use for employment opportunities down the road. I now have a 3.55 GPA at this school, and I have made the Dean’s List three straight quarters (streak is likely to be broken this quarter due to insanely rigorous classes). I haven’t gotten the Math credit done yet but I plan to take it Spring quarter. My overall GPA is likely to still be under a 3.0, but I am hoping they saw the positive trend in my grades over the past 1.5 years and are wiling to admit me based off that. I’m OOS so I can’t exactly not plan either! If I get rejected I am appealing the heck out of it.
applied on February 7. got admitted February 9th.
my application got reviewed the next day. it will take some time tho cause it is different for everyone
@msuboys123 wow! How many credits and gpa ?
I am currently a student at Oakland university with hopes to transfer to MSU in the fall next year. after this spring semester is completed I will have 30 credits, and around a 3.3 GPA. high school I had a 3.2 and a 28 on the act. the status update like many of you have say. that my academic performance suggest that I would succeed at MSU but they want to see my final grades of the spring term.
what are my chances of admission?
@BAspartan2019 I am in the same situation as you, after the spring semester I will have 30 credits completed with a 4.0 last semester. I spoke to the Office of Admissions on the phone and they told me that this message does NOT by any means mean that you will not be accepted to MSU. I was told that they prefer to see at least 28 credits completed in a college setting before they make a final decision. I also asked them how long it would take for a final decision to be made since I am out of state and need to make plans for housing (I plan to live off-campus since I will be 20 by the time classes begin) and they told me that it shouldn’t take more than several days for a decision to be made once you submit your spring grades. I felt very (cautiously) optimistic that I will probably get in as long as I get good grades this semester. My best advice would be to work very hard this semester and try to get the highest GPA possible & hope for the best! Good luck, I hope to see you in East Lansing in the fall:)
I’m wondering if having a large freshman class is causing them to wait before accepting students into the sophomore class. Seeing how many drop out
@airway1 i wonder the same… but I’ll technically be a junior when i transfer… i think previous classes weren’t as big as this years freshman but. Who knows
@rdtosparty agreed… also, they joined the common app this year I hear they had 50k by Jan compared to 33k all year last year…
@airway1 wow! I hope that they give more consideration to those who are actually using their specific application. I want to call and ask admissions how much longer… but i am afraid I’ll get the same answers again. Or ask where my app is at they’ll just say “it is under review” which again is something i already know
