At all of our dates this far at CCU, about 1/3 of the students auditioning have been male. Which is not bad by most standards, but it’s still gives men a higher chance than women for sure. We also know we will probably need to accept more men because more of them will turn us down in the long run because they will also get many offers from schools that see 1/3 of the men. It’s a cycle that just leads to it being easier on guys. Lucky ducks. ;)

Received rejections so far:
Roosevelt University 15/2/2012 (auditioned at NY unifieds)
Syracuse University 25/2/2012 (auditioned at Chicago unifieds)

I didn’t get a callback for Penn state so I’m guessing thats also a rejection for BFA.

@MTcurly - Sorry to hear about the rejections. My D also just received one this week and, though, she took in stride, it is still difficult to understand why.

May I know how you received the result from Syracuse University - by post, email or website? D audition in NYC which could be earlier then Chicago.

@ParadiseMT I received the result from Syracuse by email. They sent a link and when I clicked it, a digital letter opened with my result. I think they’re going to send the letter by mail in a few days - notifying me once again of my rejection :P

Keep your head held high and stay positive!!! I know every time a rejection comes, it is so hard to take it personally, but never, ever doubt your talent. It’s all one group’s opinion, and not the blanket opinion of everyone. And with the sheer amount of kids auditioning with only 25-30 spots, it has to be tough on the judges as well. I know I would hate to be the one to have to decide a child’s future, or be the one to reject a talented kid in favor of another. It’s difficult from both sides. But never let it get you to the point that you doubt your ability. Think about what got you here in the first place.

Haven’t heard anything from Ithaca, auditioned on December 3rd, so I’m assuming I’m out. Received a deferral from the University of Michigan yesterday, unsure how I feel about it. Keep your heads up everyone, everything will turn out the way it is meant to be!

A deferral from UMich is amazing and nothing yet from Ithaca does not mean you are out. Last year some people were rejected early, others were held and heard nothing. Some of those were accepted in mid-March.

I apologize for sounding (for lack of a better word) dismal…I don’t know the process well and am anxious! I am very thankful!

just got a no from umich on my WA. I auditioned at unifieds on the 6th.

received a rejection from UMich. Auditioned on the 6th in Chicago. I can’t help but to wonder if I’m ever going to get accepted…

Has anyone gotten a response from Ithaca yet? I don’t know of anyone who has heard. I think they hold their last auditions next weekend.

Hang in, there MTcurly! I know it’s so hard. You do have that wait list to Point Park, and although it’s not an acceptance, it IS something to hope for!

How extensive was your list? Do you still have a lot of schools to hear from? Be sure to read back through this whole thread. It’s very inspiring to read stories of kids who got a ton of rejections, only to finally get an acceptance to the PERFECT school for them. Try not to lose hope. It’s hard, I know!

D does have a couple of great acceptances to schools she would be happy to attend. But the “big fish” is still out there. (Actually the 2 big fish). Waiting is SO darned hard!

Which 2 big fish tacyvp, may I ask?

Don’t want to jinx it! I’ll post them as big fish in either in either this rejections thread or the acceptances threads as appropriate once the answers come in.

*fnpmom- I auditioned for Ithaca on 2/3. I have not received a formal rejection letter, but I am pretty confident in the fact that I did not get in. My major of interest changed from Musical Theatre BFA to Exploratory on the myithaca website.

Athena, That seems like a heartless way to let a student know they weren’t accepted. Could it have been a mistake? Surely they know that students are checking the website.
Maybe you could call and ask. I wish you good luck.

Athena, did you put exploratory as you second or third choice major?

Exploratory was my third choice major because I wanted to be considered for MT and acting. I hope it is a mistake, but I doubt it. I was looking through some forums and it seems this happens to people who have been rejected.

You have been accepted into that major and the school so I doubt if you’ll get a rejection letter from the MT program at all. Actually, last year what my daughter got was an acceptance packet and a giant scholarship to be an English major. It was listed as here her 3rd choice. Sorry.

My daughter got a rejection letter (I hate that term!) from Ithaca a few days ago in the regular mail. She auditioned January 21.
