Which courses do Muir and Warren require of students who transfer with TAG? I've heard students must complete at least one additional writing course and a US minority culture course for Muir. I'm not sure if my major affects this choice, but I am studying Psychology.

you have to take a making of the modern world class

And for Warren college?

One of my UCSD pdfs says Making of the Modern World is for ERC.

Warren:
2 Writing
2 Ethics and Society
12 Programs of Concentrations (PofCs) OR
6 Area Studies (for engineers) OR
Minor

Muir:
2 Writing
3 Social Science, a three-course sequence
3 Math or Natural Science
6 Humanities - Fine Arts - Foreign Language

These are the GE requirements for the two colleges, but I’m not sure which ones IGETC already clears.

i thinkkkk we mayy have to do the 2 writing courses for warren. not sure, and hopefully ill find out for sure on transfer admit day

Wow, we should know before we are admitted! We do have to rank the colleges.

yeah and i put warren as my number one not caring if i had to do the writing courses or not. i need some help on my writing skills and either way would work out for me.

I don’t know what muir is but I do know what Warren requires for transfers.

If you have IGETC done at Warren you have to take three UPPER DIVISION electives in a field not related to your major (ie. an engineering major can’t take extra engineering classes or physics they must take a social science) if you have IGETC you do NOT have to take Warren Writing. If you don’t have IGETC you may have the same GE requirements as Freshmen and have to take the writing classes.

From what I heard, it doesn’t matter which college you choose to attend. As long as you complete IGETC, you cover all of the general education requirements for all of the colleges.

^ I hope that is true. There sure is a lot of contradiction on this forum. But if you attend Revelle, I’m sure you still would need additional GEs unless you are an engineering student.

@walleats:

That is not true. Every college at UCSD will require you to do some GE after you transfer even with IGETC + TAG. The GE requirements for transfers is a lot smaller than for Freshmen… but you can expect to take 2-3 GE classes no matter which college you’re in.

nice, then i guess its just 3 upper division for me…i might take some writing intensive classes though because seriously…my writing needs help

"If you plan to follow the IGETC, consider:

This curriculum is a series of courses that meet GE requirements at UCSD’s Muir, Marshall, Sixth, and Warren colleges.

Students who follow IGETC are also welcome at Eleanor Roosevelt and Revelle Colleges, but additional coursework may be required to fulfill GE requirements.

Partial IGETC is another possibility, allowing you to clear some of the GE requirements-if you are choosing a major that requires some lower-division coursework once you get to UC San Diego, this may be a good option for you. Partial IGETC certification may be completed after transferring to UC San Diego."

You guys know that there’s a website where you just type in “UCSD transfer IGETC” into a search bar and it just finds you the answers? -__-
