I was accepted for aerospace engineering and got into Muir as a transfer student. I was looking at the Muir GE's and it seemed like a lot for an engineering major to take. I think it said you have to take 3 patterns with 3 courses in each pattern, plus the two writing courses. I've heard that IGETC satisfies the GE's, but I was told not to follow IGETC since I'm an engineering major. I have the writing courses done, and I've taken a political science class and a spanish class and maybe another GE course that could count for something. But it looks like I will have to take 7 more GE courses. Is that right?

i talked to an admissions councilor about this and if i remember correctly, transfers with IGETC completed only have to take a minimum of GE’s which include an extra writing class and something else…i know its only 2-3 classes for muir. each college varies tho.

id say you should talk to a ucsd councilor to clear it up
