Did everyone get an invitation to this.. or is it just minorities? I am Indian... ORM, so I was wondering why I got it. Has everyone else gotten it, too? It's April 19-21 with 20th just a regular preview day.... Will everyone be attending?

I’m asian as well and haven’t gotten it (tho I live in canada). is it something akin to benjamin franklin scholars, etc?

I got one. apatel… are you going?

(south asian)

Hi, congrats on getting admitted to Upenn! I too was admitted and I was wondering did you get the invitation through the mail, or was it an email? And what part of the US do you live in? I live in Arizona and I have no received anything. Thank You

I got the invitation, and I am Persian (which usually isn’t considered a minority, but I guess its is for Penn ) I am attending… and VERY excited for it… anyone else attending?

yes I’m so excited and then staying through till the 21st

Wow I’m very excited. I’m pretty sure i’ll be going! Hope to see you guys there!! I live in Maryland (Eastern Shore)- about two and a half hrs from philly by car. I received the packet in the mail yesterday; I’m sure you guys will get yours soon!

bump 10char

Hmmm… I wonder how many people are invited to this thing bc there aren’t multiple dates its available, so either not many people were invited, or there will be A TON of people there. Since it’s a scholars event, I also wonder whether it has to do w/ student caliber, not just ‘multiculturalism’… although that would also surprise me because everyone (just about) is extremely smart, and I don’t see how they can choose the strongest of such a strong class… just thoughts

I’m Hispanic and I got one… I hope I can go, though it’s frustrating that all of the colleges I was accepted to put their special preview days on that same weekend, and now I’ll have to choose. Sigh.

I’m Asian and I received one. I found my invitation on the decisions page, on the right of the page in the menu column thing

hey everyone, im a freshman, and yes, it is for minorities. i suggest that you all come because i went and penn made a huge impression on me (obviously, haha). anyway, ill be hosting one a student and personally, i think its a great way to look at the academic and social side of penn. its a great place and i hope you all have fun! :)

it kinda makes sense cause like 37ish percent of penns student body are minorities…im cming btw!!!

awesome! can’t wait to see you there, fellow Marylander haha. If you don’t mind, what minority are you? Bc I think there’s still some discrepency as to whether only certain minorities are invited…

When I tried to fax my rsvp in, the machine told me there was no answer on there end. Did anyone else have problems with the number?

is it only for regular decision applicants? cuz to try to get ppl to come to penn?

i didn’t get invited to this one (i’m ED), but i went to one in september for prospective frosh…

i’m kind of upset i wasn’t invited to this! :(

lol i think then it’s a marketing thing lol…they don’t need to waste money on us ED kids…we are already def going lol
i went to the financial aid office to bargin for more money…they refused cuz i was ED…:(

Same I wasn’t invited (and ED)…oh well I hope I’m not missing out on much.

@starcrane:

you should have known before you applied ED that you were essentially giving up your right to negotiate financial aid. that’s why a lot of people opt to apply RD.
