lol i just watched that episode

foreign music

I listen to pretty much anything while doing my HW. I have some preference for stuff without lyrics (Scheherazade, which is 45 minutes long, is great), but I don’t really care.

Depends on the class…history, spanish or english homework, I will have music on. Chemistry or Pre-Calc, I need silence.

When I have to pull all-nighters (or close to it) = death metal
Usually, I listen to instrumentals of most songs so I don’t get distracted by the lyrics.

death metal, rap, country, pop, etc.

Listening to “Still Dre” by Dr. Dre for some reason allows me to focus and do my work efficiently lol. That and some Beethoven usually help me get through boring stuff

ahh the beauty of Beethoven =] His music = love

^haha, agreed

I realize that CC is a unique site with a couple of these posts.

Someone who understands. Only a few of my friends aren’t bored by it.

I listen to music because I need something to distract me from the homework while I’m doing it. My papers have the tones of the music I’m listening to and I am able to distract myself from the repetition of math and science hw.

Instrumentals/relaxing songs during all hw except math. E.g. Sigur Ros, Classical Music, Jack Johnson, Imogen Heap. Any music during math.

It makes me feel less alone

I do. However, I often put something like Bach’s cello suite prelude on repeat and just let it run over and over.

That’s assuming I actually feel like doing homework, of course.

I’m a classical musician, of course I appreciate his work :D

I listen to music while doing homework, because I’m more likely to do something else… if I’m not listening to music

"I listen to music because I need something to distract me from the homework while I’m doing it. "

Exactly. Like, i wouldn’t be able to focus on doing certain really tedious assignments without music to get me through them.

The later at night it gets, the darker, more heavier the music gets. It’s a The Cure–>Joy Division–>Stones–>Smiths–>Editors–>Ministry kind of trajectory.

My little playlist of Regina Spektor, Snow Patrol, and Nickel Creek has gotten me through many a late-night paper.

And if I really need to focus, I go download one or two new songs and just listen to them on repeat over and over again until I’m done!

haha music helps me focus. I listen to pop, alternative, or light rock. too many instrumentals hurt my ears after a while. Classical is ok, but all the crescendos/diminuendos take too much thinking. Pop can be mindless, and energizing

Especially if the homework requires typing on a computer. Without music, I go online to sites like CC and waste time. The music kind of serves as distraction enough, such that I have to get to work right away. also, it tunes out the other sounds in my house.

Classical music, because I don’t really “listen” to it, as deeply as you probably should. Otherwise I’d be too tempted to go CC and FB, so it keeps me occupied.
