Hi, I was wondering what the music scene is like here. I play piano and trumpet and would like to continue trumpet in an ensemble or a pep band. Is there a scene of students here that generally like to play music/are interested in music? I worry about Bowdoin being too much of a sports school, even though it is D3.
thanks

there’s an orchestra. You’ll be fine, there are a bunch of students that play instruments

Bowdoin has lots of options for musics! Many groups you can join… I will be joining a couple of myself next year!

Here are the performing ensembles: http://www.bowdoin.edu/music/performing-groups/index.shtml. You can major or minor in music and almost all lessons and ensembles can be taken for credit (up to 6 credits). There are also all kinds of musical programs and experiences on campus, you can check out the archives on the website and here’s the music calendar for this fall: http://www.bowdoin.edu/music/calendar/index.shtml (I’m also excited to continue my instruments at Bowdoin and take some music theory too :))
