Hello! I am a senior, applying to colleges soon, pretty sure I’m applying to Brown ED. I absolutely adored it when I toured and the school is phenomenal.
My only concern is music. I am a vocalist and I want to study jazz (as well as intensive academic subjects as well, of course), in addition to piano and guitar. Would I be able to participate in jazz ensembles? Acapella? Are there music facilities at Brown? How are the faculty? Are private lessons offered?
This is a very important part of my decision. I really appreciate all feedback Thank you so much and have a lovely day!
Re: this question and your other one. I’d highly suggest looking around the Brown website as well as previous discussions in this forum (use the search tool!) There’s been plenty of discussion around these topics previously, and if you have any specific questions after doing research, I’m sure people here would be happy to help you. We’re not here to do your research for you, though.
Yes, Brown has excellent music facilities and opportunities. You should do research, as suggested, but the short answer is that Brown is full of talented musicians, opportunities and facilities. Musical achievement seems to be viewed, as it should be, as an accomplishment that is viewed very favorably by admissions, just as athletic and other achievement, so there are many high caliber musicians at Brown and many opportunities to further your talent.
