My son was initially determined to apply to California colleges for a music industry/music business degree. After a very recent visit to the University of Arts in Philadelphia, he was so enamored with the program and city that he decided that it’s his first and only choice. He likes it because you immediately delve into your major without excessive liberal arts courses. I feel he needs to consider other options just in case there’s something better or his application is surprisingly denied. Any suggestions, advice, or caveats? We reside in Pennsylvania. Thanks in advance for all responses.
UArts is a great school and environment, and the Music Business program seems really great there. Its not the cheapest school but they offered my D a pretty decent aid package. She ended up going to the University of Memphis after being offered a full-tuition scholarship.
Some other Northeast schools you might want to look at for Music Business might be Drexel in Philly, Rowan and William Paterson in New Jersey, University of Hartford, University of New Haven, University of Cincinnati, NYU, SUNY Oneonta, and Syracuse University. Columbia College Chicago and McNally Smith in Minneapolis in the Midwest are other schools my D and I researched but didn’t get a chance to visit.
Thanks Pop…! I’ll start researching. We’re trying to line up college visits during high school spring break.
@PositivelyMe
Take a look at Ramapo in NJ - it is small, but good merit, and I believe it has some special music program, one of my director’s sons goes there for this, so that is why I’ve heard of it.
@NJRoadie - Thanks!!! Will check it out!
@NJRoadie - Hey, it does have a music industry major!
any update on where you applied and got in?
