<p>I really want to do a vocal performance major in college, and I just wanted to ask if anyone on her knows of the music department at the U of MN. How competitive is it? Is it a good program? I'm looking at Boston University, Rice University, the Catholic University of America, and Carnegie Mellon University as well for vocal performance-how does the U of M compare? I heard from someone that it's the best music school in the Big Ten.
If anyone could give me info about the music department at all that would be most appreciated, but in particular I'm interested in performing.</p>
<p>Also, does anyone know the criterion for the honors college? The website is very vague. Any honors college students/alumni here who know what my chances of being accepted to the honors college would be?</p>
<p>SAT: 1390 overall with writing (690 CR, 590 M, 660 W)
SAT II Literature: 760
ACT: 30 with writing
GPA (unweighted): 4.0
plus extra-curricular activities, which I'm not going to bore everyone here with all the minuscule details of my life. I am planning on taking the SAT and the ACT again, both in October, and the Math level II subject test in November. I'm hoping for a 2150 or higher on the SAT, 33 on the ACT.</p>
