So I have applied to USC, UCLA, Cal State Long Beach, and Cal State Fullerton. I have already been accepted into Fullerton and have made the preliminaries for USC. However, I have not be accepted into any of their music programs yet.

I would like to go to USC or UCLA as a music major if I do get in, but I do not think that I will have the money to go since I am supporting myself right now.

So if I were to choose between CSULB and CSUF, which would have the best music program?

PS: I have friends who are performance majors at CSUF and have already introduced me to a couple of their teachers in the department, so I am leaning toward Fullerton, but I do not want to go if I can get into a better program.

I assume this is performance? Have you applied for financial aid? UCLA is not all that much more expensive than Cal State, and the quality and opportunities would be superior. If you are admitted to UCLA, contact them about financial aid opportunities if you haven't already.

I have already applied for financial aid to all of the schools, but I do not believe that I will get much money out of it since my parents are of higher income. I have also applied to the President Scholarships at Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach and am waiting for a reply sometime in mid-March.

I am looking more toward a music education major or composition. This is only for my bachelor's degree with teaching credentials. I plan on going forward after for a Master's and Doctorate later on in life.

USC has been generous in the past with scholarship money -- 1/2 tuition for national merit winners; Thornton scholarships. You should audition live; although you can rely on a CD, your chances for a scholarship are diminished significantly if you don't go to USC for the audition.
