Musical Theater Prescreens - Class of 2022 (process/response)

How did your D hear about passing prescreens at Ithaca, MThopeful2022? Email, Acceptd, Mail? Thanks

@fancytheatrekid my D received word from Ithaca thru Acceptd.

College academic acceptances have been coming through. Has anybody heard from Baldwin Wallace about academic acceptance prior to auditioning? It seems every school is different as to how it is done. My D applied to all of her schools either in September or early October and is just hearing back now. Happy Holidays everyone! I hope that all of you get some rest this week!

@jenniferm1973 did your D hear from BW? I assumed we find out academic acceptance when we hear about artistic acceptance after auditions for BW - and her audition is not until Feb!? My D applied very early as well- to 16 schools- but the only academic acceptances she received so far are Pace, Montclair, Wright State and Arcadia. We knew it would be a longer wait for the MT process but I have to admit- seeing her non theatre friends make their decisions already or post their acceptances makes it seem like an even longer wait!!! Of course we are genuinely happy for her friends…but you know how it is with the uncertainty and the wait- most of our auditions are Jan/Feb.

@savedrama4momma No, she hasn’t heard from Baldwin Wallace about academic acceptance, but I think one of her friends did. Some schools academically accept you first…that was my question. She has received some already, but I suppose that with the rest she will find out after auditions.

@savedrama4momma I believe BW notifies about academic acceptance with the artistic decision. If you are academically admitted, but not artistically, they generally redirect to their BA Theater degree, but I don’t believe that they send any decision until after your audition.

@savedrama4momma , @kategrizz is right about BW. They did not notify us last year about academic acceptance until the artistic decision was given. Tbh I don’t remember my daughter getting an academic formal acceptance letter from them. She was denied from MT by email & then they did offer the BA theatre degree which she wasn’t interested in , so I’m guessing they just bagged her academic letter ? But yes most schools we had already heard academically quite early. Especially state universities with rolling admissions.

If a kid fails all of his/her prescreens would you have them change their songs/monologues?

@bisouu I’m very sure my daughter is going to change her material; it doesn’t showcase her strengths at all.

@bisouu asks a great question. I suppose you could email the program and ask for feedback about your D @collegemom2000 . Some might give it. Won’t hurt to ask.

I am starting to sound like a broken record, but is anyone else waiting on Rider pre-screens? Daughter submitted them over a month ago. I’m getting nervous because Unifieds is coming up and I’m guessing even if she passes there will be no audition spots left at this point.

@collegemom2000 My D’s Rider portal had changed to something like “awaiting audition completion” (or something to that effect) but we hadn’t heard anything officially. Since it wasn’t clear to me, I called them to inquire and it turned out they sent the pre-screen notification to an incorrect email address. We got that fixed and they re-sent the prescreen notice to the new address. The person i spoke to was very nice. Has your D been accepted academically yet? You may have mentioned it earlier but I’m sorry i don’t remember…

@MThopeful2022 no we haven’t received a thing and the portal still says “Ready for Review” which indicates to me they haven’t even looked at it. There is no message in Acceptd either. Should I call? A month seems like a really long time.

@collegemom2000 My D applied in late November and heard back within two weeks. My guess is they are closed for Winter break, but you should give them a call maybe next Tuesday.

@jenniferm1973 clearly something is wrong then, she applied in late November as well. Thanks!

@collegemom2000 I don’t think placing a polite call to the admissions office would hurt at this point. I’m ready to do the same with a few myself - there are still a few we haven’t heard anything from and D’s audition schedule is getting tight. Sounds like we’re in a similar boat… as jenniferm1973 said, they may be closed this week…keep us posted!

Happy New Year to everyone! Here is to auditions in January/February and a successful 2018! May you all get your first choices!!

Same to you, @MTmomSF !!!

Happy New Year to an incredible support group. I have to ask if anyone is traveling to UM for auditions on January 19 or CM on the 27th? I would love to connect with you all.

Happy new year to you all! May the upcoming audition season be a successful one for all of our children!
