Has anyone heard from Penn State, Michigan, Ithaca, or Florida State yet from prescreen submissions? Thank you so much!!!
We have not heard from Michigan but suspect that we could have delays because we were waiting on a delayed LOR and new SAT scores that included essay (required for MI) that were both sent just this week. Has anyone heard back from TX State prescreen yet?
Michigan in the past has had 2 notification dates on prescreens - and those dates depend upon when the prescreen was submitted - take a good look at the Michigan website and the info about prescreens - I’ll wager you’ll find a definitive date based on when you submitted the prescreen.
We are waiting on PENN State and Michigan too. Not a peep. My D took the SAT again just to do that essay. PENN state says end of October so hopefully we will hear soon.
I remember from last year that Michigan absolutely required all academic review requirements like transcripts, scores, essays, recommendation letters, etc to be submitted in addition to the prescreen in order to issue an audition offer. So if you are waiting on them be sure to triple check that all of the necessary requirements for academic admission have been received. We found out they were waiting on her transcript and it was holding up the entire process. We got it sent in and she got her offer for an audition the next day.
Nothing from Texas State yet, but they said it wouldn’t be until November.
I’ve spoken to admissions reps from Michigan and learned that they will be sending out audition notices for MT in the middle of November (around the 15th). If your child is auditioning for VP, then nothing will come out until December. Also learned today that Ithaca will send out its notifications by the 15th. Has anyone received one yet?
I have a flowsheet that I created a couple of weeks ago. Here is what I gather: Michigan is saying that decisions will go out just before the 11/15. I suspect Penn State will happen at the start of next week, Texas State is behind in evaluating and is trying to get decisions out as soon as they can (the acceptd email that goes out says you will hear in 2 weeks–they aren’t making that.). Florida State should happen the first week in November (if prescreens were submitted by a particular date–not sure what that was).
I would add Ithaca by the 15th. NYU had already starting looking at applications as has Pace. CM appears to look at it on a rolling basis since we received a response about 2 weeks after our submission.
Heard from Ithaca today. Have kiddos check acceptd.
@singdanceact67 could I ask when you submitted the acceptd prescreen?
@mommafaria September 29th.
Nothing here and we submitted Oct 6. Uh Oh!
If I remember correctly, last year had numerous prescreeners, and the Ithaca responses came back over the course of a couple weeks; without any obvious rhyme or reason in the passes and fails, submission dates, etc.
Well my son S just got his first prescreen rejection. Texas State. It was one of his top choices. He was very teary. And a bit shocked given all of the other yeses. Although this process is a marathon, he lost a little wind last night. He will be fine, but so hard.
Aren’t Ithaca’s notifications based on who watched the prescreen? If I am remembering correctly each faculty member watched/notified in their own time
@MTmomSF - I think the 1st “no” is the hardest. It was for my D (hers came from BW’s early audition/notification in Nov) It’s funny, after 4 years, that’s the only one that still stings for me - which is funny, b/c BW was the outlier in her list- didn’t fit any of her “must have” criteria - but it was a bummer for her just the same. Chin up - it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish- D ended up with good choices, and has gone to a program she loves
Dying to hear how the auditions went for people this weekend. I’m living through all of you for the time being.
One good note from my S rejection…he learned a good lesson. He had been receiving good feedback from the director and emailing with her for the past year (with prompt responses.) They met at a camp. He was feeling confident he would pass. When he didn’t he took it personally, feeling he was being led on. It is important to remind our kids that the directors/auditors are in the profession of promoting their schools and making kids feel comfortable. They are not going to be honest with our kids about acceptance into their schools - and if they do happen to give compliments it is not a guarantee they will pass. Our kids have to learn to take rejection, but @toowonderful is right, the first one stings!
FYI - It looks like Baldwin Wallace audition dates are full…we will be there on February 18th and look forward to meeting others.
@MTmomSF We will be at BW the weekend before you for a 2/10 audition- we will let you know how it goes and let us know if you have questions the week before you go! My daughter did a summer conservatory program there this past summer and ADORED that experience. Amazing, caring, talented, passionate professors- she loved the whole thing! The campus, the program, the classes- she learned SO MUCH!!! I have all good things to say about BW. I know it is so hard to get in, but she is definitely determined to give it her best shot. What a fantastic, inspiring place.
