Musical Theater Prescreens - Class of 2022 (process/response)

@hmichmom I am sorry I misunderstood your post. Colleges will send out an email (typically if they submitted prescreens it will be in Accept’d) that will either invite them to audition, or say something like thanks but we aren’t inviting you for an audition. She should also get an email. I am sure if she is waiting (for Penn State) she will hear soon! Good luck!

@hmichmom We got a response to every submission - either an email inviting her to audition or a notification that she was not selected. All came through email or Acceptd.

Same to your D, @jenniferm1973 !

I would love to hear what others uploaded when asked for an additional video of their choosing. My son researched all the prescreen requirements, recorded them, and cut them to each schools specific requirements. They have been uploaded into acceptd and now that he’s attaching them to each school, we are realizing a lot of schools offer the chance to add another video or two to ‘get to know the student better’. I don’t know if this was an oversight by him while researching or only viewable in the upload section of acceptd but he’d rather not record anything new. Can he just use clips he recorded of other material (songs/monologues/dance cuts)? How about clips from previous shows? It seems like a waste not to upload anything. He knows some basic piano but it wouldn’t really be impressive. I know some other kids have done juggling/sign language/reciting alphabet backwards but he doesn’t have any skills like that. I find it a little baffling that one school for example allows for one 30 second dance clip but you can also upload 2 videos without time restraints of your choosing to ‘get to know you’.

My daughter sent videos of her heelying in a community gym for the wild card videos. She had to make several videos after the initial ones because of so many different requirements. She did get a yes from Penn State today! We are still waiting on Ithaca, Florida State and a few others. We are attending NYC Unifieds and hoping to do 10 auditions. We have 8/10 scheduled. It’s getting hard because the dance calls are at different times and some schools require 4 hour blocks. Anyone else having problems with scheduling?

What time did you hear from PENN State? Still waiting.

@anotherBwaymom my D heard this morning but she applied and submitted her application and prescreens LaborDay weekend.

@anotherBwaymom my D got a message on Accept’d about 11am today. She submitted in September, however, according to their website, if the student applied before Oct 15, they were to find out the end of October. If after Oct 15, they don’t find out until mid December.

@PaMTmom my D changed up the extra video depending on what the other required videos were. If the only wanted 1 dance, she uploaded a ballet or tap video. She also plays guitar so she also had a video of herself singing and playing. Hope that helps.

5:00pm

@jenniferm1973 @SAS0792 Thanks! She submitted late September, but not looking good to hear nothing.

@PaMTmom My D has been playing violin in her school orchestra since 5th grade. She doesn’t take private lessons or do much outside practice but she’s competent. We are going to record a snippet of her playing for her wild card video - hoping it will add another dimension for her.

My S, who’s strength is vocals, sand another song. We highlighted his strengths.

I’ve heard from Texas State, Ithaca, Penn State, and Shenandoah- passed, and PACE- not passed. PACE was my top school, so that was disappointing. Still waiting on Elon and FL State. Has anyone heard from them?

@mthopeful17 - do you mind if I ask when you submitted the Shenandoah prescreen? or- approximately how long it too to hear back? We are REALLY anxious to hear back from them and praying everyday for a yes! My daughter LOVED her visit there!!! It had become a front runner for SURE!

@mthopeful17 Elon let everyone know about prescreens for Fall if you applied prior to Oct 15th (?) requesting a Fall prescreen, and for the rest that applied later and/or wanted a winter prescreen they will not notify until Jan 17th. Bummer on Pace. It is hard to get the no for the top choice. Congrats on the rest!

Seems strange if they don’t send a message either way. I’ve not heard of that.

@savedrama4momma Of course! I submitted my prescreen for Shenandoah on Oct. 12 and just heard back yesterday. Best of luck to her!

@MTmomSF Thanks so much! I hadn’t realized that.

Waiting to hear if S passes prescreens is annoying… never mind how we will feel while waiting to hear about acceptances. I just wish this process was quicker.
