Sakky is funny. Someone must have really hurt him during his time at Cal. Sakky, its alright. Its not your fault. No, no, its not your fault. Somebody please give sakky a big BEAR hug. He needs it.

Woz graduated from Cal AFTER he had had quit Apple, and he was a student at Cal BEFORE he started Apple. In other words, Woz was at Cal B E F O R E and A F T E R he founded Apple.

Just wanted to spell out the chronology for you, in case you the wikipedia entry you breezed through didn't make that clear for you.

Nobody is disputing that Woz was a Cal student before he started Apple. But my point is that he dropped out. The implication is that others should drop out in order to achieve success (and then after achieving that success, only then going back to Berkeley to graduate). If you want to follow the Woz example literally, then that's the conclusion you would have to draw.

And besides, that's not even the real point. The real point is that it simply opens the door to other schools claiming their dropouts as 'successful alumni'. Like I said, if Berkeley can claim the success of Apple, then Harvard and Stanford can claim the success of Microsoft, which is a far more successful company than Apple is. What's fair is fair. I don't particularly agree when Harvard and Stanford claim Microsoft, but if the the rules of the game are that schools can claim the success of their dropouts, then you have to abide by such rules in all cases.

Trust me, I'm doing just fine. I don't need anything from anybody.

I'm just trying to provide information to interested people. Like I said countless times, if you are not interested in what I have to say, then fair enough, don't read my posts. But let the people who want to read them be allowed to read them. That's free speech.

Of course there are certain people here who seem to believe in censorship. They seem to want to actively deny information to people.

Did I attempt to censor you in any way? Like I've said countless times, if you're not interested in what I have to say, then fair enough, don't read me posts. Sound familiar?

Snugglemonster, I was not referring to you.

Well, just like your constant coments about "certain easy majors" that you will never identify, your comment about censorship was very vague, and since you quoted me in it I just assumed it was aimed at me.

ok, lets remember that the original posting topic was "things to do before leaving Cal"

anything else to add on that topic?

Bush diving. No, this is not what you are thinking. I'm talking -- LITERALLY jumping into bushes from elevated places. It's a lot of fun, though you can get cut and bruised pretty nasty if you arne't careful. It's a lot of fun though. :-D

I don't think I NEED to identify them, because others have already done so. All you need to do is search around on CC for easy Berkeley majors.

But since you insist, I'll give you one: American Studies. Andrewtdx, who is himself an AS major, even admitted so in post #12 in the following link.

"**But as a general rule? I'll admit it, American Studies is pretty fluff if you don't take the right classes. ** "

What another? How about Legal Studies? See what Panm said in post #14 of the following link:

"*** Like someone said before, the legal studies major by itself is pretty much a joke. It's not academically rigorous and everyone knows that, including the law school adcomms. The classes are ridiculously easy. ***"

There are only two easy majors Cal? These TWO majors are the source of all your consternation about Berkeley going down the crapper? Jeez, I expected more.

Like I said, why don't you search for them? Do I really have to do all of your legwork for you?

YOU talk about easy majors, so YOU should say which majors YOU are talking about. Can't you speak for yourself?

Isn't American Studies an interdisciplinary major anyway, with Soc, Poli Sci, History and Anthro classes? Hardly a joke.

In any case, misspicaroon is right, it's off-topic as far as this thread is concerned.

I tried to read whole thread, too long.

If you want to be a TRUE BEAR, go to all the home football games, stand in the STUDENT SECTION for the entire game (and don't complain), cheer at the top of your lungs & don't even once feel stupid doing so, and learn to love our beloved Oski (no hatin', he's kickass).

Warm wishes from fellow Golden Bear,
TTG

I won't make the mistake of going off-topic with sakky and adding pages to a good thread about topics no one really cares much about.

I will restart a thread on this topic sometimes down the road.

Bump, this thread will be useful to incoming freshman and transfers and I've seen many people posting similar threads.

Thanks to CalX and everyone who has posted on this thread :)

bump

CalX, did you ever get around to completing that list of yours? I just finished my first semester, and having an eighth of college over puts everything in perspective. It's time to get started on that list!

Visit Tilden Park and the botanical garden if it hasn't been mentioned already.

Sushi house, Barney's, Zachary's, Everette's & Jones are all great dining places.
