My admission was withdrawn from UCI!

I agree that your appeal is well-written and I also agree the UCI is probably “thinning the herd” so to speak since they received more SIR’s than expected. There have been at least 3 other posters that have had their acceptance withdrawn from UCI for this Fall.

I have 2 questions:

  1. Did you notify the UC’s of the 1st semester F as required after you submitted your application?

Freshmen: If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the UC Application Center by email or postal mail. Your correspondence must include your name, UC Application ID number and your signature (if you mail a letter), and will be available to all the campuses to which you applied.

If you receive an offer of admission, be sure to confirm with the campus admission office that they are aware of the deficient grade or schedule changes. Although you must notify the campus of these changes, we cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received. Make sure to save a copy of your correspondence just in case.

  1. Did you notify UCI after your 2nd semester F and prior to submitting your final transcripts?

If you did notify the UC’s/UCI, do you have the correspondence you can submit with your appeal?

If you did not, then it is highly unlikely they will they will change their mind since you did not follow through even with your extenuating circumstances. At this point, you have nothing to lose, so I would submit your appeal and hope for the best but make sure you have a backup plan (apply tomorrow to your local community college for Fall 2017).
