My CC is BETTER than yours!

anchor -- most everyone?

Yeah, we've got our share of losers and space wasters. But just because some idiots come to our school thinking that it's an automatic in for UCLA, it shouldn't cheapen our system. I have no knowledge of the science department but I do know that many of my philosophy professors are UCLA grads and in an honors class, they grade on the UC level. At least the 4 that I've had so far, they try to maintain this level for all honors classes.

We have our share of idiots, but so does SMC. When I walk that campus, I wonder if it's a fashion show or a school. I have never seen so much cheating in a class room in my life... and I go to PIERCE! I have taken 3 classes at SMC. I remain unimpressed.

Keep in mind that a LOT of our student body is not full time, most of them are part-time or don't even take classes some semesters. We cater a lot of veterans as well. Yeah, so PC has an average CCC to transfer duration of 6 years. But if you do it right, it can end up being one of the best.

My friend doesn't listen to me on any of this. The only thing we disagree on now is school, which is pretty big... I'm sorry, a 3.26 GPA gets into UCB? I don't care what random ass major you are, that seems like a long shot.

My economics teacher told us today DeAnza ranks 3rd among all community colleges in the nation, for various criteria. #1 is some college in Miami.

student14x - that's what I meant: the percentage of people that applied that got in...not the percentage of the student body that transfered...I guess I didn't make that clear

@xleper17

Your experience may be different than mine, but in all honesty, Pierce has been one of the worst CC's that i've ever attended. Far worse than valley, if you can imagine...

On Diversity:
- Your typical Pierce College student is either Asian, Persian, or Armenian. Its been my experience that these groups are very "clickish", and don't like to associate with "outsiders". I'm not really sure how to describe the atmosphere at pierce, but it really does feel like an extension of high school.

On Facilities:
- As I've said before, the chem labs at pierce are just awful. Chemicals are just scattered around the room, with mysterious liquids all over the floors half the time. The bio labs are just as bad. I'm sorry but, putting up a model of a human torso somewhere in the room, does not make it a bio lab.

The library at pierce is just a terrible excuse for a library. It's more of a large room with books. God help you if you ever need to ask one of the mouth breathers working the front desk for assistance. Not to mention the fact that the school has roughly, 3 thousand* students on campus at any one time (*going off typical crowdedness of parking lots 1/4/6/7). Yet, in their infinite wisdom, they decided to build only 4 study rooms...

On cheating:
- Never in my life have I encountered such blatant and unabashed cheating. Its so bad at Pierce, that we're not allowed calculators with any kind of memory functionality. Personally, I've seen various forms of cheating while at my short time at pierce. These include, writing down answers/formulas on the bill of a baseball cap, an eraser, on your shoe, on the inside of a shirt, on the cover-slip of calculators, on the calculators themselves, and hidden inside pens... With such rampant cheating, I'm surprised any UC even accepts applicants from pierce in the first place.

I could list more, but frankly I think you get the point. Pierce college is an abomination unto the CCC system, and should be thrown into the farthest reaches of space...

After having been four years here at De Anza (yeah, I know...), I can say it's a very good school for social/humanities majors. The professors for those areas are vast and most of them know what they're talking about and make the class fun. The math teachers...half of them are clear and challenging (in a good way), half of them don't want to be there and it shows. The science teachers...avoid at all costs! (very few exceptions)

Vast professors?

Meaning overweight... DUH! They're setting up a weight loss program for their faculty I hear..

is diablo really better then deanza ?

Hey look--a new user.

Get out while you can!!!!!! It's too late for me but you can still make it!!

Answering your question sweetxlia... Diablo does seem to transfer more students to Berkeley and Davis. Diablo also has a higher transfer rate to UCLA.

rep SMC foolz

DVC represent!!

And if, once enrolled at a UC, those words should ever pass my lips again, anyone in the vicinity may slap me, hard, with my approval.

here's a 26 year old document on this very subject! Oh, the nostalgia: http://eric.ed.gov:80/ERICDocs/data/ericdocs2sql/content_storage_01/0000019b/80/3b/63/ae.pdf

my cc claims to be #1 in norcal for transfers... sierra college, in rocklin. it sucks here... i am glad to be leaving

lopside how the hell did you find that

Saddleback College.

It sucks.
