So I have already been accepted into UCF and I am planning on applying for the honors college. I am a straight A student, have taken a lot of AP and honors courses, have a GPA above a 4.0, and I have a bunch of extracurriculars that would look good on the application. The only problem is that I have an SAT score in the 1200 range. Do you think that would hold me back from being accepted? I would really appreciate some feedback from current BHC students or anyone else who has input!
The minimum scores for MEDICAL SCHOLARS (BMS) is 1500 or 34. It will be lower for regular acceptance to the honors college. If you want to know, call Burnett and ask if they have a cut off for this coming class or perhaps they can tell you what the stats were for last year’s class.
The application is available for request now. I would suggest getting it in…there is a limit on how many they accept.
Consider retaking your tests possibly.
Good luck
Go knights!
Their average ACT last year was a 32. Got in with a 31. Just apply early as your chance increases the earlier you apply since they only have a certain number of seats
I was just curious. Did you get accepted? I was wondering how heavily they relied on scores. My daughter was accepted with a 1410 SAT and I saw several posts with scores in the 1300’s for the SAT. Your GPA and classes demonstrate academic rigor so I wondered with otherwise excellent stats if a lower SAT/ACT would be an issue. Med Scholars have the minimum but I wondered if the rest of Honors is more holistic.
I just got notified yesterday that I was deferred. I have yet to be informed about the main reason for this, but the only reason I could think of is because of my SAT scores. My highest is a 1230. I might possibly try to retake it (for the 5th time) or try the ACT.
Sometimes it’s all strategy. My daughter is good in LA and a whiz at math but a little weaker in science so she chose the SAT. If the ACT plays to your strengths then go for it! ?
