I'm about a 3.0 average student and from NorCal. I'm planning to take my SAT in October and I'm kind of scared of about the UC apps and CSU apps. Anyone have any advice for them? Thanks :)

*I plan on applying for UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, and CSU Long Beach

You need to calculate your UC/CSU GPA, see link for calculator: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Is your GPA 3.0 Unweighted and how many AP classes have your taken? I am assuming you are in-state California. Intended major??
For the UC’s the average UC GPA is a 4.0+ except for UCSC/UCR/UCM. I am just estimating your UC GPA will be in the 3.3-3.5 range?? Your only good chances would be UCR/UCM.
Here is the Averages for the following schools:
UCI GPA= 4.05 SAT= 1867
UCSC GPA= 3.82 SAT= 1782
UCD GPA= 4.07 SAT= 1932
UCR GPA= 3.77 SAT= 1739
UCM GPA= 3.61 SAT=1638
If your GPA is below these averages, you definitely need a very high SAT to compensate along with great EC’s and essays.
Since you have not take the SAT yet, you are behind since that will only leave you 2 months to try and up your scores if you are not happy with the October results.

Without any more information, I would say a Reach for all the schools including CSULB unless your are in the local area. You need to consider some lower tier Cal States as safeties and matches such as Dominguez Hills, Channel Islands, Monterey Bay, Humbodlt, Bakersfield, San Marcos.
