My Chances? Help!!!

Hello, I really need to know my chances for admitting into Rutgers University, New Brunswick. My parents keep saying I don't even stand a chance...but i'm not sure...

Average GPA: Approx~ 3.5 ( B )
SAT SCORE : Math: 700 Reading: 550 Writing: 550
4 Years of Mathematics (Algebra I , Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calc)
4 Years of Science (Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, (H) Physic
4 Years of English (English I, English II, Academic English III, IV
3 Years of History( Modern World History, Acad. American History I, II
Spanish I and II /2 years
Rank: Approx~ Top 30~40
Worked: Volunteer Summer service at an Army Base (Family members only)
Teacher Assistant for a year at Chinese School
I have also attended Chinese School for 14 years.
Other Class taken: Electronics I, II, Business /Tech, Applied Art/Fine Art, Tech Drawing, Psychology, Economics

Ughh... only 2 Honor classes, physics and electronics II, no AP courses =/ You think i have a chance?

I also need to know the chances for getting into Kean, Montclair, Ramapo, Richard Stockton, Monmouth, William Patterson, and College of NJ. But I don't want to repost again and again o_o, so if anyone could help me, i would greatly appreciate it.

If you live in NJ, I would say you are in for the win.

All the other ones looks cool too. TCNJ is a little hard I hear. I think youd get in though.

You're going to get in. The average SAT is about 1230 (old scale) but only because of all the few smart people who pick up the slack for the people who get 1000's. SAT is one of the primary deciding factors at Rutgers, and I think your scores are strong enough to get you into the liberal arts colleges and business college.

As for the other universities, you'll definitely get in. TCNJ is a blah school...most times they'll accept people with your stats, but make you choose a different major than what you want because often times popular majors like Biology or English get filled up pretty quickly.

Either way, your parents are crazy! I think you'll get into RU and you'll have fun at RU because it's the second best university in NJ and one of the best in the country. It's got a lot more resources than the others and a lot more to do. Of course, the campus is ugly because it just looks like a small city and the 101 courses classes are disgustingly crowded, but it's definitely better than the other schools.

Good luck!

hi,

sorry to post in someone else's topic. You said the average score for SAT was 1230. I got the following scores

Math - 620
Reading - 560
Writing - 620

GPA - 3.9 (W) 3.5 (UW)

I plan to major in one of the biological sciences.

Do you think I'll get in. My stats are posted here :

Minus TCNJ and Richard Stockton (cause I dont know how selective Stockton is and TCNJ is a solid school), you can tell those colleges to suck your balls in your essay and you'll still get accepted

Rutgers is a match, and you should be able to get into TCNJ

u r GPA is in the average range for Rutgers and u did well on SAT so I wouldn't worry if I were u Boxer 1480!!!
